The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, is set to conclude the registration process for the MHT CET 2026 today. This entrance examination is the mandatory gateway for admission to first-year undergraduate programs in Engineering and Technology (B.E./B.Tech) and Pharmacy (B.Pharm/Pharma.D) across the state. The portal, cetcell.mahacet.org, has seen a massive surge in traffic as aspirants from the PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) and PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) groups rush to submit their forms before the "No Late Fee" window expires tonight. Following this deadline, the cell is expected to provide a brief window for registration with an additional late fee.

Mandatory Document Checklist for MHT CET
The CET Cell has emphasized that the data entered now will be used for the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) later. Candidates must verify:
- Domicile Status: Ensuring "Type A" to "Type E" candidacy is correctly selected to claim seat reservations in Maharashtra colleges.
- Category Documents: Valid Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) certificates and EWS certificates are essential for those claiming reservation benefits.
- HSC Details: Since the MHT CET merit list often involves a normalization process with Board marks, ensure your Class 12 (HSC) seat number is accurate.
- Group Selection: Double-check if you have selected PCM, PCB, or both, as the fee varies accordingly.
Why MHT CET 2026 is Crucial for Engineering Aspirants
As Mumbai and Pune continue to grow as global hubs for IT, Manufacturing, and Automobile engineering, securing a seat in top-tier colleges like COEP Pune, VJTI Mumbai, or ICT Mumbai offers a significant career advantage. Unlike JEE Main, which focuses on a national pool, MHT CET provides an 85% quota for Maharashtra state candidates, making it a more accessible route to high-quality technical education for local students. The 2026 exam is expected to maintain the 20:80 weightage ratio between the Class 11 and Class 12 syllabus, requiring a comprehensive revision of both years.
What Happens After Today?
Once the registration window closes, the CET Cell will activate the Correction Window. This will allow candidates to edit specific fields such as their name, date of birth, and photo. Following this, the focus will shift to the release of the "Hall Tickets" in early April. Candidates are advised to utilize the intervening month to solve previous years' question papers, as MHT CET is known for its high-speed requirement—150 questions in 180 minutes.
