MH CET Law 2025 (5-Year LLB) counselling choice filling starts tomorrow, August 1, for Round 1 & 2. Candidates must fill preferences by August 3 for seat allotment.

For thousands of aspiring law students in Maharashtra, the path to a 5-year integrated LLB program enters a critical phase starting tomorrow, August 1, 2025. The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell will activate the option to fill choices for Round 1 and Round 2 of the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) for MH CET Law 2025 (5-Year LLB).

This development follows the much-anticipated release of the final merit list for Round 1 on July 30, 2025, which determined the definitive ranks of eligible candidates. The choice filling process is arguably the most pivotal step in the entire counselling journey, as it directly influences a candidate's seat allocation based on their merit and college preferences.

Key Details for Choice Filling:

  • Choice Filling Starts: August 1, 2025
  • Choice Filling Ends: August 3, 2025
  • Process: Candidates must log in to the official MH CET Law 5-Year LLB CAP portal (llb5cap25.mahacet.org) to submit their preferences.
  • Eligibility: Only candidates whose names appeared on the final merit list for Round 1 are eligible to participate in this choice-filling phase.
  • Importance of Strategic Choice Filling: Candidates are strongly advised to research colleges thoroughly, consider previous year's cut-offs, and list their preferred institutions in a strategic order. Filling a maximum number of eligible choices can increase the likelihood of securing a seat. The choices submitted in this window will be considered for both Round 1 and Round 2 seat allocations.

What Happens After Choice Filling?

Once the choice filling window closes on August 3, 2025, the Maharashtra CET Cell will proceed with the seat allotment process:

  • Provisional Allotment for Round 1: The provisional seat allotment list for Round 1 is expected to be released on August 6, 2025, after 5:00 PM.
  • Reporting to Colleges: Candidates who are allotted a seat in Round 1 and wish to confirm it will need to report to their respective colleges for admission and document verification between August 7 and August 9, 2025. Candidates who get their first preference will have to 'Freeze' their seat, pay the seat acceptance fee, and complete the admission formalities. Those who are allotted a seat other than their first preference may opt for 'Betterment' if they wish to try for a higher preferred college in subsequent rounds, while still retaining their current allotted seat by paying the seat acceptance fee.

This choice filling period is a make-or-break moment for many. Aspirants should approach it with utmost care and precision to ensure they maximize their chances of securing admission to their desired law college. Regular checks on the official Maharashtra CET Cell website are highly recommended for all updates and notifications.
