The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) is concluding the Phase 1 application process for the Manipal Entrance Test (MET) 2026 today. This marks the final opportunity for engineering aspirants to register for the first session of the university-level entrance examination. Candidates who miss this deadline will have to wait for the Phase 2 registration window, which is expected to open in April. The official MAHE admissions portal will remain active until the end of the day for final submissions, including fee payments and document uploads.

MET 2026 Phase 1 Examination Schedule

With the registration window closing, the focus now shifts to the Online Test Booking System (OTBS). Candidates who successfully complete their application will be eligible for slot booking starting at the end of this month. During this period, applicants can choose their preferred exam date and timing from the available slots on a first-come, first-served basis. The Phase 1 exam is scheduled to be conducted as a computer-based test in mid-April across various centers in India and abroad.

The Manipal Entrance Test is the primary gateway for admission to Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programs at the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) campuses in Manipal, Bengaluru, and the Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology. Following the Phase 1 exams, the university will provide a second attempt in May for those looking to improve their scores. The best of the two scores will be considered for the final merit list and subsequent online counseling process.

  • Application Deadline: The extended window for Phase 1 closes today, March 23, 2026.
  • Slot Booking: Candidates can select their exam slots between March 31 and April 2.
  • Admit Card: Hall tickets will be available for download starting April 10.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

To be eligible for the MET 2026, candidates must have passed or be appearing for their 10+2 (or equivalent) examinations with Physics, Mathematics, and English as compulsory subjects. A minimum aggregate of 50% in Physics, Mathematics, and any one optional subject (such as Chemistry or Biotechnology) is required. During the registration process, candidates must provide personal details, academic history, and upload scanned copies of their photograph and signature.

Mandatory Steps for Successful Submission

Candidates are advised to double-check their application status before the portal closes. A successful registration is only confirmed once the application fee of ₹600 and the entrance test fee of ₹1,400 have been processed. Applicants should ensure that the uploaded documents meet the official size and format specifications to avoid rejection. After submission, it is recommended to download and print the confirmation page for future reference during the admission cycle.

Conclusion

The conclusion of the MET 2026 registration phase signifies the beginning of a high-stakes period for thousands of students. With the Phase 1 exams less than three weeks away, registered candidates should now prioritize their revision and familiarize themselves with the exam pattern via the official mock tests. The two-phase system offers a strategic advantage, but securing a strong performance in the first attempt remains the most effective path to obtaining a preferred branch in the Manipal ecosystem. Candidates must act immediately to finalize any pending forms before the midnight cutoff.
