The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has officially extended the registration deadline for the Manipal Entrance Test (MET) 2026 Phase 1. While the application portal was originally set to close on March 15, the university has pushed the date forward to March 23, 2026, providing a crucial one-week lifeline for engineering aspirants. This extension is particularly beneficial for students currently balancing their board examinations and other national entrance tests.

As of today, March 16, 2026, the application link remains live at manipal.edu. The MET is a mandatory requirement for admission to various undergraduate B.Tech programs at the prestigious Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) campuses in Manipal, Bengaluru, and Sikkim, as well as Manipal University Jaipur.

Revised MET 2026 Phase 1 Schedule

With the extension of the registration window, the subsequent administrative phases have also been streamlined. Aspirants should take note of the following firm dates:

EventDate
Final Date to Apply (Extended)March 23, 2026
Slot Booking WindowMarch 31, 2026 – April 2, 2026
Admit Card ReleaseApril 10, 2026
MET 2026 Phase 1 Exam DatesApril 13 and 14, 2026

The exam will be conducted in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode at designated centers across India and select international locations like Dubai. For regular updates on the Phase 2 schedule and merit list announcements, follow Only Education News.

MET 2026 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

Understanding the exam structure is essential for high school students aiming for a high rank. The MET 2026 consists of 60 questions to be completed in 120 minutes.

The test includes a mix of two question types:

  • Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs): These follow a $+4/-1$ marking scheme.
  • Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions: In a move that favors prepared candidates, NAT questions have no negative marking. Students are encouraged to attempt all numerical problems.

The syllabus primarily covers the 10+2 curriculum in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, with an additional section on English to test language proficiency.

Steps to Complete the MET 2026 Application

To ensure a successful submission, candidates should follow this simple protocol:

  1. Registration: Create a profile on the official admission portal using a valid email and mobile number.
  2. Form Filling: Enter personal, communication, and academic details. Ensure your name matches your Class 10/12 mark sheets.
  3. Document Upload: Upload a scanned copy of your recent photograph and signature (usually under 300 KB in JPEG/PNG format).
  4. Fee Payment: The total fee for a single attempt is typically ₹2,000 (₹800 for the application and ₹1,200 for the entrance test fee).

Strategic Advantage: The Phase 2 Option

One of the most significant advantages for MET aspirants is the multi-phase structure. If a student is unsatisfied with their performance in the April session, they can register for Phase 2 (scheduled for May 23 and 24, 2026). MAHE considers the best of the two scores for the final ranking, which significantly lowers the stakes for any single exam day.

Aspirants should focus their revision on the NCERT syllabus, particularly for the NAT questions, as these can be the differentiator in a competitive merit list.
