The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has successfully concluded the Choice Filling and Locking process for the NEET PG 2025 Round 2 All India Quota (AIQ) counselling. The final deadline for candidates to submit their preferences, which was extended to accommodate revisions, officially closed on December 13, 2025.

The completion of this crucial stage means the MCC has now initiated the Processing of Seat Allotment, and the highly anticipated Round 2 Seat Allotment Result is scheduled to be announced anytime today, December 16, 2025.

The Impact of the Last-Minute Seat Additions

The MCC's decision to revise the seat matrix multiple times and extend the choice filling window provided a significant benefit to aspirants, particularly those with lower merit ranks.

  • Total Addition: A total of 135 new MD/MS seats were added across multiple states and institutions, supplementing the previously announced vacant and newly approved seats. This resulted in an expanded seat pool for candidates.
  • Wider Distribution: These 135 seats were distributed across states including West Bengal (highest additions), Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Assam, Telangana, and others, spanning various clinical and non-clinical specializations.
  • Benefit to Aspirants: The addition was timed perfectly, allowing candidates who were on the cusp of securing a seat to review the final seat matrix and update their choices accordingly. This move potentially increased the chances of securing a desired specialty or college for many aspirants.

What Happens Now: The Next 24 Hours are Critical

The current phase is the seat allotment processing, where the MCC's system matches the candidate's All India Rank (AIR), their filled preferences, category, and the final seat matrix to generate the provisional result.

Immediate Action for Aspirants

Candidates must remain vigilant today and tomorrow:

  1. Monitor the MCC Website: Keep checking the official MCC website (mcc.nic.in) for the Round 2 Provisional Seat Allotment Result.
  2. Download Allotment Letter: Once the result is out, download and print the Provisional Allotment Letter.
  3. Prepare for Reporting: The physical reporting and admission phase begins tomorrow, December 17, 2025. Candidates allotted a seat must gather all original documents, pay the necessary fees, and prepare for immediate travel to their assigned institution.

This round is the final opportunity before the Mop-Up round, making the acceptance and joining of an allotted seat crucial for securing postgraduate medical admission. For all real-time notifications on the result and reporting process, follow Only Education News.
