The Medical Counseling Committee is currently finalizing the super specialty seat matrix for the NEET SS 2025 session. Eligible doctors can expect the official counseling schedule and choice-filling link to appear on the MCC portal this week.

As of today, February 24, 2026, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is in the final stages of preparing the seat matrix for NEET SS 2025. This is a very important step for doctors who have passed the super specialty entrance exam and are waiting to choose their branches like Cardiology, Neurology, or Plastic Surgery. The seat matrix is a list that shows exactly how many seats are available in every government and private medical college across India. Once this list is ready, the official counseling for DM, MCh, and DrNB courses will begin on the MCC website.

The NEET SS 2025 results were declared earlier this year, and since then, thousands of specialists have been waiting for the counseling dates. The MCC works under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) to make sure that the seat allotment process is fair and based entirely on the rank a student achieved in the exam. This year, the process is expected to be very fast to ensure that the new session starts on time without any more delays.

1. Understanding the Super Specialty Seat Matrix

The seat matrix is the most useful document for a candidate during the counseling process. It helps them decide which college they have a realistic chance of joining based on their merit rank.

  • Specialty-Wise List: The matrix will show seats for all 13 super specialty groups, including Medical, Surgical, and Pediatric groups.
  • College Categories: It includes seats from Government Medical Colleges, Central Universities, Deemed Universities, and even Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) institutes.
  • Reservation Policy: Candidates must remember that for Super Specialty courses, there is generally no reservation for OBC, SC, or ST categories as per Supreme Court orders.
  • Clear Vacancies: The list will first show "clear vacancies," which are seats that are completely open for the first round of allotment.

2. Eligibility and Registration for NEET SS Counseling

Only those doctors who have qualified in the NEET SS 2025 exam by scoring above the 50th percentile are allowed to participate in this process.

  • MBBS and MD/MS Degree: You must have a recognized postgraduate degree (MD/MS/DNB) in a relevant feeder specialty.
  • Registration Fee: To join the counseling, candidates have to pay a non-refundable fee of ₹5,000.
  • Security Deposit: A refundable security deposit of ₹2,00,000 is also mandatory to ensure that students do not waste seats.
  • NMC Registration: You must have a valid registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or a State Medical Council.

3. Step-by-Step Allotment Process by MCC

Once the NEET SS 2025 seat matrix is published, the online portal will open for registration and the choice-filling phase.

  • Online Registration: Create a profile on the MCC Official Website using your NEET SS roll number and application details.
  • Choice Filling: You can select as many colleges and specialties as you want in your order of preference.
  • Choice Locking: It is very important to lock your choices before the deadline; otherwise, the system will lock your last saved preferences automatically.
  • Seat Allotment Result: MCC will release the result PDF showing which college you have been given based on your rank and choices.
  • Reporting: If you are happy with the seat, you must go to the college with your original documents to finish the admission.

Conclusion

The finalization of the NEET SS 2025 seat matrix marks the beginning of the end of the long admission journey for super specialty aspirants. With the MCC expected to release the schedule shortly, doctors should keep their documents ready for the registration phase. It is a good idea to look at last year's closing ranks while preparing your choice list to avoid missing out on a seat. For the most accurate and official information, always check the MCC Super Specialty Notice Board regularly. This is the final step toward becoming a high-level specialist in the Indian healthcare system.
