The Medical Counselling Committee is in the final stages of collecting seat data from colleges across India to kickstart the NEET SS 2025 admission process. Qualified doctors are advised to monitor the official portal for the upcoming seat matrix release, which will list available spots for DM, MCh, and DrNB programs.

Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) prepares to launch the national counseling for NEET SS 2025. As of today, February 27, the committee has significantly advanced its work in gathering the final seat count from various government and private medical colleges. This specific list, known as the seat matrix, is a critical document that shows exactly how many positions are open in advanced medical fields. Every year, qualified specialists wait for this data to decide which hospital or college they should join for their three-year super specialty training. Without this clear list, the choice-filling process for the first round of counseling cannot begin.

Progress on the Official Seat Count

The MCC, which operates under the Directorate General of Health Services, has been working overtime to verify every single seat available for the 2025-26 academic session. Recently, on February 23, the committee issued a strict notice to all participating institutes to upload their seat details. This step is vital to ensure that the admission framework remains transparent and that no seat is left uncounted. Experts believe that the number of seats in departments like Cardiology, Neurosurgery, and Oncology might increase this year due to new permissions given to private hospitals and government centers.

  • Data Verification: The MCC is currently cross-checking the seat numbers with the National Medical Commission (NMC) database to avoid any mistakes.
  • Specialty Groups: The seat matrix will be divided into 13 different groups, matching the different exams doctors took in December.
  • No Reservations: As per the rules of the Supreme Court, there is no reservation policy for these super-specialty seats; they are filled purely on merit.
  • Deadline for Colleges: All medical institutes have been told to finish their reporting so the admission framework can be finalized by the end of this week.

What Candidates Need for Registration

While the seat matrix is being finalized, qualified specialists are advised to keep their documents ready for the registration phase. The NEET SS results were declared on January 23, and the individual scorecards were made available on February 2. To participate in the online counseling at the MCC portal, you will need your NEET SS roll number and your application ID. The committee usually charges a non-refundable fee of ₹5,000 and a security deposit of ₹2,00,000 for these high-level courses. This medical counseling process will likely have three main rounds: Round 1, Round 2, and a final Stray Vacancy round.

  • Scorecard: You must have a printed copy of your result showing you have met the 50th percentile cutoff.
  • MD/MS Completion: Only those who have finished their post-graduate degree by the cutoff date are eligible.
  • Registration Proof: You must have a valid registration certificate from the NMC or a State Medical Council.
  • Choice Filling: Once the seat matrix is live, you can log in to select your preferred colleges in order of priority.

Next Steps for Super-Specialty Aspirants

Once the seat matrix is published, the MCC will release a full schedule for the first round of medical counseling. It is very important for doctors to study the seat matrix carefully before locking their choices. For example, if a doctor wants to study Nephrology, they should look at the seat matrix to see which hospitals have the most seats or the best reputation. The final allotment of seats depends on your rank and the choices you fill. If you are a doctor who has cleared the exam, staying updated with the official notices is the only way to ensure you don't miss out on your dream branch.

  • Stay Alert: Check the "Current Events" section on the MCC website daily for the PDF link of the seat matrix.
  • Research Colleges: Use the time now to look into the stipend and bond conditions of different states.
  • Technical Support: If you face issues during registration, the MCC helpdesk is available via email and phone.
  • Final Reporting: After getting a seat, you will have about 5 to 7 days to report to the college and join the course.
