The path to an exciting management career just got clearer! The Management Aptitude Test (MAT) for the December 2025 session has officially opened its registration window, giving MBA and PGDM aspirants across the nation a golden opportunity to secure admission into over 600 participating Business Schools (B-Schools). Conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA), MAT is recognized as a National Level Test by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, making it one of the most widely accepted entrance exams.

Aspiring candidates, whether fresh graduates or those in their final year of study, are strongly encouraged to mark the critical deadlines and initiate the application process immediately. The exam is uniquely designed to cater to various preferences, being offered in both a traditional Paper-Based Test (PBT) and a tech-savvy Computer-Based Test (CBT) format. Securing your registration early ensures you get your preferred test city and mode. Do not delay, as these deadlines are fast approaching!

MAT December 2025: Crucial Dates and Deadlines

Staying organized with the timeline is the first step toward a successful MAT attempt. Candidates can choose to appear in either the PBT or the CBT mode, or even both to maximize their chances, as B-Schools will consider the higher score. Note that the registration deadline differs for each mode, requiring applicants to plan their submission accordingly.

  • PBT (Paper-Based Test) Schedule:
    • Last Date to Register Online:December 7, 2025
    • Admit Card Release Date: December 10, 2025
    • Exam Date: December 13, 2025
  • CBT (Computer-Based Test) Schedule:
    • Last Date to Register Online:December 15, 2025
    • Admit Card Release Date: December 18, 2025
    • Exam Date: December 21, 2025

Candidates must visit the official AIMA MAT website, mat.aima.in, to complete the registration and payment process. Ensure all details are accurate, as late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Early registration also helps in securing the desired test center.

 Inclusive Eligibility and Registration Process

One of the greatest advantages of the MAT exam is its inclusive eligibility criteria, which welcomes a broad spectrum of candidates. This approach makes it a highly accessible route for diverse candidates looking to pursue an MBA or PGDM program.

  • Eligibility Criteria Simplified:
    • Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognized university. This includes B.A., B.Com., B.Sc., B.Tech., and all other equivalent undergraduate degrees.
    • Final-Year Students: Students who are currently in the final year of their graduation are fully eligible to apply. They must, however, provide proof of passing the degree examination later, as required by the admitting B-School.
    • Age Limit: There is no age limit to appear for the MAT exam. This encourages both fresh graduates and working professionals seeking career pivots to apply.
    • Minimum Score Requirement: AIMA itself has stipulated no minimum percentage of marks at the graduation level to take the test, though individual B-Schools may set their own admission cut-offs.
  • Step-by-Step Online Registration:
  1. Visit the Official Portal: Go to mat.aima.in and click on the 'Register Now' link.
  2. Create Profile: Fill in basic details like Name, Date of Birth, Email ID, and Mobile Number to generate a login ID and password.
  3. Fill Application Form: Log in to your account and complete the application with all required personal, academic, and contact information.
  4. Upload Documents: Upload your recent passport-size photograph and signature in the specified format and size.
  5. Select Test Options: Choose your preferred Test Mode (PBT, CBT, or both), select your desired test city/cities, and indicate the B-Schools you wish to send your scores to (you can typically select up to five institutes).
  6. Fee Payment: Pay the non-refundable application fee online using a Credit/Debit Card, Net Banking, or UPI. The fee for a single mode (PBT or CBT) is ₹2,200, and for both PBT + CBT, it is ₹3,800.
  7. Submission and Print: Submit the final form and save the confirmation page for future reference.

Key Benefits of the MAT Exam Score

The Management Aptitude Test is a well-regarded examination in the management education sector for several compelling reasons. It serves not just as an entry ticket but as a valuable credential for your application.

  • National Level Recognition:
    • The MAT score is accepted by over 600 B-Schools across India for admission to their full-time/part-time MBA and PGDM programs, offering candidates a vast choice of institutes.
    • Being a national-level test, it provides a unified platform for aspirants and institutions alike.
  • Flexibility and Attempts:
    • AIMA conducts MAT four times a year (February, May, September, and December), giving candidates multiple opportunities to attempt the exam and improve their scores.
    • The dual option of PBT and CBT in the same session offers great logistical flexibility to suit individual comfort and schedules.
  • Balanced Exam Structure:
    • The exam evaluates five critical management skills: Language Comprehension, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, Data Analysis & Data Sufficiency, Mathematical Skills, and Indian & Global Environment. This comprehensive structure ensures a holistic assessment of a candidate’s aptitude for management studies. The exam consists of 150 questions to be completed in 120 minutes.

In Conclusion

The MAT December 2025 session is a prime opportunity for management aspirants to accelerate their career goals. With its flexible exam modes, inclusive eligibility criteria, and wide acceptance among top B-Schools, the MAT provides an accessible and credible gateway to a prestigious MBA or PGDM program. Remember to complete your registration by December 7 for PBT and December 15 for CBT.
