The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Madhya Pradesh, has initiated the next critical phase for NEET UG 2025 aspirants. Following the declaration of the Round 1 seat allotment result on August 6, the window for physical reporting to allotted medical and dental colleges has officially opened today, August 7, 2025. This is a pivotal moment for candidates who have secured a seat, as they must complete their admission formalities and choose their next step, including the option for seat upgradation, within the designated timeframe.

The reporting and upgradation window is a crucial administrative period. It is essential for candidates to report in person to their assigned college to complete document verification and pay the necessary fees. The last date to complete these formalities is August 16, 2025.

Action Required for Allotted Candidates

Candidates who were successfully allotted a seat in Round 1 must now decide on one of the following two paths at the time of reporting:

  1. Accept the Seat and Freeze: A candidate can choose to accept the allotted seat and freeze their admission. This means they are satisfied with the college and course and will not be considered for any subsequent rounds of counselling.
  2. Accept the Seat and Opt for Upgradation: A candidate can accept the allotted seat but indicate their desire to participate in Round 2 for a potential upgrade to a better college or course. This is a vital feature of the counselling process, allowing candidates to hold their current seat while trying for a better one.

It is mandatory for all candidates to exercise an option for upgradation (Yes/No) at the time of admission at the college level. A candidate's online login will also allow them to edit their upgradation option until August 16, 2025. Failure to report and complete the admission formalities within the specified dates will lead to the cancellation of the allotted seat, and the candidate will not be eligible for further rounds of counselling.

The Upgradation Process Explained

Opting for an upgrade is a strategic decision for many aspirants. Here is a clear breakdown of how the process works:

  • Secure the Current Seat: To be eligible for upgradation, a candidate must first secure their Round 1 allotted seat by reporting to the college and completing all admission formalities, including the payment of fees.
  • Automatic Consideration: Candidates who have opted for upgradation will be automatically considered for their higher-preference choices from their original list in Round 2.
  • What Happens if an Upgrade Occurs? If a candidate is allotted a new seat in Round 2, their original Round 1 seat will be automatically forfeited and given to another candidate. They must then report to the new college to complete the admission process.
  • What Happens if No Upgrade Occurs? If a candidate is not allotted a better seat in Round 2, their Round 1 seat remains secure, and they do not need to do anything further.

List of Mandatory Documents for Reporting

Candidates must carry all original documents, along with one set of self-attested photocopies, to the allotted college for physical verification. The list of essential documents includes:

  1. NEET UG 2025 Admit Card and Scorecard.
  2. Provisional Allotment Letter downloaded from the DME website.
  3. Class 10th Marksheet and Certificate (for Date of Birth verification).
  4. Class 12th Marksheet and Certificate.
  5. Valid Photo ID proof (Aadhaar Card, Passport, etc.).
  6. Domicile Certificate of Madhya Pradesh (mandatory for state quota seats).
  7. Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC) if applicable, issued by a competent authority.
  8. EWS Certificate (if applicable).
  9. Disability Certificate (PwBD) if applicable.
  10. Migration Certificate and Transfer Certificate.
  11. Gap Certificate (if applicable).
  12. Six passport-size photographs (same as the one uploaded on the NEET application form).

Candidates must also be prepared to pay the admission fees as required by the college. It is advisable to visit the college website or contact the admissions department for the exact fee structure and payment methods.

This phase of counselling is a critical step towards securing a medical seat. All candidates are urged to adhere to the official schedule and guidelines released by the DME to ensure a smooth admission process.
