📰 Kerala NEET PG Counselling 2025: Provisional Merit List Out, Counselling Gears Up! The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala, has released the provisional state merit list for NEET PG 2025 Round 1 counselling for admission to Postgraduate Medical (MD/MS/PG Diploma) courses in the state. This significant step marks the transition to the crucial seat allotment phase of the counselling process.

A total of 5,884 candidates have been provisionally shortlisted, making them eligible to proceed with the option-filling and subsequent seat allotment rounds. This list is a consolidated ranking of candidates based on their NEET PG 2025 scores, fulfilling the eligibility and documentation criteria for the state quota seats.

Key Details on the Provisional List and Next Steps

A separate Provisional Category List has also been published, detailing the status of candidates under various reservation categories. Aspirants must meticulously check both the Provisional Merit List and the Category List on the official CEE Kerala website, cee.kerala.gov.in, using their application credentials. The rank and category mentioned in these lists will directly influence their chances of securing a preferred seat during the allotment process.

Addressing Ineligible and Defective Applications

While 5,884 candidates are in the provisional merit list, the CEE has also flagged certain applications for deficiencies. Notably, 34 candidates have been declared ineligible at this stage due to incomplete or improper document submission. These candidates were given a final opportunity to rectify the defects by uploading the necessary documents by a specific deadline (e.g., November 4, 2025, 12 PM in a recent update), failure to which could lead to their removal from Round 1 eligibility. Previously, a larger list of defective applications had also been released, requiring immediate correction. Aspiring students are advised to check their application status immediately and address any defects as per the instructions on the CEE portal.

The Path to Seat Allotment

Following the provisional merit list, the counselling process moves swiftly to the Choice Filling and Locking stage for Round 1. Only candidates included in the merit list are eligible to participate. Aspirants must log in to their candidate portal to select and arrange their preferred medical colleges and courses (MD/MS/PG Diploma) in order of priority. This choice filling is a critical step, as the Provisional Seat Allotment List for Round 1 will be generated based on the candidates' state merit rank, the preferences they have filled, the seat matrix for 2025, and the applicable reservation policies.

Once the seat allotment is published, candidates who are allotted a seat will have to download their allotment memo and report to the respective allotted institution for document verification and completion of admission formalities by the stipulated date. For those not allotted a seat, or those seeking an upgrade, subsequent rounds of counselling—Round 2, Mop-Up, and possibly a Stray Vacancy Round—will be conducted to fill the remaining seats.

Aspirants of the Medical stream are strongly advised to keep checking the official website for the final merit list publication and the exact schedule for choice filling, seat allotment, and reporting deadlines. For regular updates on this and other entrance exams, follow Only Education News.
