INI CET January 2026 Results Announced: Over 32,000 Candidates Qualify for Top PG Medical Seats

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, has officially declared the results for the Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test (INI CET) for the January 2026 session. The results, which were based on the exam conducted on November 9, 2025, are now available for all postgraduate medical aspirants on the official website, aiimsexams.ac.in.

This examination is the sole gateway for admission to prestigious postgraduate courses like MD (Doctor of Medicine), MS (Master of Surgery), MCh (6 years), DM (6 years), and MDS (Master of Dental Surgery) at premier institutions across India, including AIIMS New Delhi and all other AIIMS campuses, JIPMER Puducherry, PGIMER Chandigarh, NIMHANS Bengaluru, and SCTIMST Trivandrum.

Competition Analysis: High Qualification Rate

The official result notification reveals a significant number of candidates who have successfully met the minimum eligibility criteria:

• Total Qualified Candidates: A total of 32,374 aspirants have been declared qualified for the INI CET January 2026 session.

While this number is substantial, it must be viewed in the context of the highly competitive nature of the admissions process. The total number of seats available through the INI CET counselling is limited. The final seat matrix for this session indicates that only 1,643 seats are up for grabs across all participating Institutes of National Importance (INIs). This means that only a small fraction of the qualified candidates will ultimately secure a seat.

Qualifying Criteria and Next Steps

To qualify for the INI CET, candidates were required to achieve a minimum qualifying percentile, which varies by category:

• General (UR), EWS, OCI, and Foreign National Candidates: Must secure the 50th percentile.
• OBC, SC, ST, and PwBD Candidates: Must secure the 45th percentile.

The next immediate step for all qualified candidates is the crucial counselling process, which will be conducted online by the organizing body.

1. Counselling Registration: Qualified candidates must register for the online counselling process to participate in seat allocation.
2. Choice Filling and Locking: This is the most critical stage, where candidates must strategically select their preferred Institutes and Specializations based on their merit rank and available seats.
3. Seat Allotment: Seats will be provisionally allotted based on the candidate’s INI CET rank, the preferences filled, and the applicable reservation roster.

Aspirants are advised to immediately download and print their scorecards from the official AIIMS website using their registration ID and password, as this document will be mandatory for all future counselling and admission procedures. A strategic approach to choice filling is vital, given the high competition for a limited number of seats in the top specializations.
