The Army Institute of Law was established under the guidance of Army Welfare Education Society in July 1999 by the Indian Army. The institute is affiliated permanently to the Punjabi University, Patiala. The Army Institute of Law is approved by the Bar Council of India.
There are few things a student must remember while applying or thinking about the Army Institute of Law. The institute was inaugurated by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on 1 December 2003. Dr. Kalam was president of India at that time. One thing that candidates must remember is that Dr Kalam inaugurated the Mohali Campus at that time. It took the campus for a long time to grow.
While choosing options for a career, candidates have in mind the dimension of economic growth. The Placement Cell of the Institute which is being handled by a placement officer, helps students in securing jobs in multiple dimensions. A large number of graduates join the services and help the Indian Army to improve their approach towards young Jawaan’s.
Since quite a few candidates are cautious about the fees structure, a large number of scholarships are provided by the institute. The Tata Merit Scholarship is being provided to 8 students who are wards of Army Personnel and would hold first and second position in the first four years of BA-LLB / BCom-LLB programme.
In a brochure provided by the college to students, the wards of Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy personnel shall fall into a certain eligibility criteria.
- There is a different criteria derived for adopted or step children.
- For Children of Remarried Widows, a different criteria has been adopted based on prospectus.
- Children of Army Postal Services (APS) personnel and Military Nursing Services (MNS) are asked to provide a certain certificate to be treated differently and provided extra marks in the examination.
