IIT Madras will start a School of Medical Sciences which will provide MBBS and MD courses. This makes IIT Madras the first ever premier institute to foray into clinical medicine. The institute will see an increase in its focus on medical education as it plans to put up a teaching hospital on its campus. IIT Madras aims to utilise the expertise in engineering to meet the challenges of modern medicine. IIT Madras shared the development on its social media account X.
