IIT JAM 2027 Application Form Released: Registration Open on JOAPS Portal, Apply by October 12
Published 13 Sept 20264 min read
IIT Kharagpur has opened online registration for IIT JAM 2027, the entrance test that decides admission to M.Sc. and other postgraduate science programmes at the IITs and IISc. The application portal went live on September 11, 2026, a day earlier than the previously scheduled September 12 activation, and candidates can register through the JOAPS (JAM Online Application Processing System) portal at jam.iitkgp.ac.in. The last date to submit the form is October 12 2026.
Before starting the form, candidates should confirm they meet the eligibility conditions and have every required document — including category and PwD certificates, where applicable — ready in the specified photo and signature formats, since incomplete or non-compliant uploads are a common reason applications are marked defective.
How to Fill the IIT JAM 2027 Application Form
The registration and form-filling process runs through the JOAPS portal in four broad stages — registration, form filling, document upload, and fee payment. Candidates should follow these steps:
- Visit the official JAM 2027 website, jam.iitkgp.ac.in, or the JOAPS portal directly at joaps.iitkgp.ac.in.
- Click on the Application Portal link.
- On the JOAPS portal, select "Register here" to create a new account.
- Complete the registration form with basic personal and contact details.
- Log in and fill out the full application form.
- Upload the required documents in the specified format and size.
- Pay the application fee online.
The form is available only in online mode — IIT Kharagpur has not provided an offline submission option for JAM 2027.

Exam Date and Mode
IIT Kharagpur will conduct IIT JAM 2027 on February 14, 2027, as a computer-based test (CBT).
What Happens After Submission
Once a form is submitted, the conducting authority verifies the details and uploaded documents. If everything is in order, the application is accepted; if a discrepancy is found, the application is marked defective and the candidate is notified by email and SMS. Candidates must then correct the flagged issues during the designated form-correction window. An admit card is issued only after the application is accepted, and candidates cannot appear for the exam without it. IIT Kharagpur is expected to release the admission brochure before the counselling process begins.
