IIT B.Des Admissions 2026: Common Application Portal Now Live for UCEED Qualified Candidates
The joint admission process for the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) program at the premier Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) has officially commenced. As of March 14, 2026, the common application portal is live, allowing students who have qualified the UCEED 2026 entrance exam to register for the 2026-27 academic session.
The application process is being managed by IIT Bombay and serves as a single-window system for seven major participating institutes: IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee, and IIITDM Jabalpur.

Application Process & Fees
Eligible candidates can fill out the form at the official portal: portal.iitb.ac.in/bdesapp. The application fee for all categories and genders is ₹4,000, which is non-refundable.
Steps to Apply:
- Verify UCEED Details: Log in using your UCEED 2026 credentials.
- Select Preferences: Rank the seven participating institutes in your preferred order. This sequence is final after April 10.
- Upload Documents: You will need digital copies of your Class 12 marksheet, UCEED scorecard, age proof, and category certificates (if applicable).
- Submit & Print: After payment, you must print the completed form, sign it, and upload the signed copy to finalize your application.
Understanding the 'Float' vs. 'Freeze' Options
Once a seat is allotted in the first round (April 21), candidates will have two primary choices:
- Freeze: You accept the allotted seat and do not wish to be considered for higher preferences in further rounds.
- Float: You accept the current seat but remain in the pool for a better choice based on your original preference list.
Note: If you are allotted your first preference, you must either "Freeze" or "Decline." If you decline your first choice, you will be removed from all subsequent counseling rounds.
