The IAT 2026 exam is scheduled for June 7, 2026, and will be held from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon according to Indian Standard Time (IST). This test is used for admission into 5-year BS-MS dual degree programmes and some selected 4-year B.Tech programmes at IISER.

Candidates can access and download the IAT 2026 admit card from the official IISER admission website using their login details, which include the application number and password. Once downloaded in PDF format, the candidate should keep both a printed copy (preferably in colour) and a digital copy. On the day of the exam, they must carry the printed admit card along with one valid original identity proof, such as an Aadhaar card, PAN card, passport, voter ID, or similar. It is also recommended to arrive at the exam venue at least half an hour before the scheduled reporting time.
The IAT 2026 exam is a way to get into the 5-year BS-MS programme in basic sciences, which includes specialisations like computational and data sciences, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, data science & engineering, economic sciences, and economic & statistical sciences. The participating IISERs are IISERs in Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, and Tirupati. The exam will be a computer-based test lasting 3 hours and will check the candidate's understanding of 12th-grade subjects as well as their analytical skills.
