The International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore has announced its counselling schedule for Round 1 of BTech and Integrated MTech admissions, and this year's process comes with a notable convenience — candidates won't need to travel to Bangalore for seat allocation. The institute will conduct a Live Online Round 1 counselling session on July 13, 2026, covering both BTech and Integrated MTech (IMTech) programs. Selected candidates will then need to report at the IIITB campus on July 16, 2026, to complete their admission formalities.
The update was posted on IIITB's official portal, iiitb.ac.in, and comes after the institute released its earlier cutoff lists between June 12 and July 3. With Round 1 now shifting to live online mode, all eligible applicants from the 2026 cycle can join the session directly from home.

How the Live Online Round Works
Unlike a typical in-person counselling process, IIITB's Live Online Round runs entirely over an online meeting hosted by the institute, with seat allocation happening live during the same session. Candidates don't need to visit the campus at this stage — allocation is handled remotely in real time.
The round uses a preference-based sliding system, meaning candidates automatically move up to higher-preference programs as seats open there, based on the order set in their original application. Importantly, preferences submitted earlier in the application form cannot be changed later, and seats are matched purely against each applicant's Best JEE Rank. Once allotted, candidates must accept the seat and complete the fee payment to confirm it.
What Is the Best JEE Rank at IIITB?
IIITB doesn't rely on JEE Main or JEE Advanced alone — instead, it uses a combined metric called the Best JEE Rank, which takes the better of a candidate's JEE Main CRL and, where entered, their JEE Advanced CRL. Applicants are required to enter both ranks in their application form if available; if only JEE Main is entered, that becomes the BJR by default. This system essentially rewards candidates for their stronger performance across either national entrance exam.
IIITB 2026 Seat Matrix
IIITB offers three BTech and two Integrated MTech programmes for the 2026 admission cycle:
| Programme | Seats |
|---|---|
| BTech CSE | 120 |
| BTech AI and DS | 90 |
| BTech ECE | 30 |
| Integrated MTech CSE | 60 |
| Integrated MTech ECE | 60 |
Up to five seats across all programs are also reserved for Olympiad students who have participated in IMOTC or IOITC training camps.
Round 1 Closing Ranks 2026
Based on the first cutoff list, BTech CSE remained the most competitive program this year, while Integrated MTech ECE closed at the highest rank among the five options:
| Program | Closing JEE Rank |
|---|---|
| BTech CSE | 3311 |
| BTech ECE | 4415 |
| BTech AI and DS | 5027 |
| Integrated MTech CSE | 5336 |
| Integrated MTech ECE | 5864 |
Fee Structure 2026-27
Tuition fees cover the full duration of each programme — four years for BTech and five years for Integrated MTech:
| Programme | Total Tuition Fee |
|---|---|
| BTech (4 years) | Rs 23,82,000 |
| Integrated MTech (5 years) | Rs 31,20,000 |
On top of tuition, hostel fees add Rs 39,000 per semester, catering costs Rs 28,800 per semester, and insurance comes to Rs 3,000 each academic year.
Eligibility for IIITB 2026 Admissions
Applicants must have cleared 10+2 with first-class grades and Mathematics as a subject at the 10+2 level. A valid JEE Main 2026 score is mandatory, while JEE Advanced 2026 scores are also considered if entered in the application form. Candidates expected to complete their 10+2 requirements by July 2026 remain eligible to apply as well.
Why This Matters
IIITB conducts its admissions independently, outside the JoSAA and CCMT counselling systems, with applicants applying directly through the institute's own portal and seats allotted purely on the Best JEE Rank.
