How the Live Online Round Works
Unlike a typical in-person counselling process, IIITB's Live Online Round runs entirely over an online meeting hosted by the institute, with seat allocation happening live during the same session. Candidates don't need to visit the campus at this stage — allocation is handled remotely in real time.
The round uses a preference-based sliding system, meaning candidates automatically move up to higher-preference programs as seats open there, based on the order set in their original application. Importantly, preferences submitted earlier in the application form cannot be changed later, and seats are matched purely against each applicant's Best JEE Rank. Once allotted, candidates must accept the seat and complete the fee payment to confirm it.
What Is the Best JEE Rank at IIITB?
IIITB doesn't rely on JEE Main or JEE Advanced alone — instead, it uses a combined metric called the Best JEE Rank, which takes the better of a candidate's JEE Main CRL and, where entered, their JEE Advanced CRL. Applicants are required to enter both ranks in their application form if available; if only JEE Main is entered, that becomes the BJR by default. This system essentially rewards candidates for their stronger performance across either national entrance exam.

Fee Structure 2026-27
Tuition fees cover the full duration of each programme — four years for BTech and five years for Integrated MTech:

Eligibility for IIITB 2026 Admissions
Applicants must have cleared 10+2 with first-class grades and Mathematics as a subject at the 10+2 level. A valid JEE Main 2026 score is mandatory, while JEE Advanced 2026 scores are also considered if entered in the application form. Candidates expected to complete their 10+2 requirements by July 2026 remain eligible to apply as well.
