IGNOU Launches Nine One-Year Master’s Programmes for FYUP Graduates, Apply by August 16

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has introduced nine one-year Master’s programmes exclusively for graduates of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP). Admissions are currently open through the IGNOU Samarth admission portal at ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. The initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and provides eligible FYUP graduates with an opportunity to complete a postgraduate degree in a shorter duration.

Who Is Eligible for the One-Year Master’s Programmes?

The programmes are available only to candidates who have completed a four-year undergraduate programme. Candidates must hold a four-year undergraduate honours degree from a recognised Indian institution. Graduates of IGNOU’s own four-year undergraduate programmes are also eligible. Candidates who completed the traditional three-year Bachelor’s degree are not eligible for these one-year programmes. Three-year degree graduates can instead apply for IGNOU’s regular two-year Master’s programmes.

What Makes the New Programmes Unique?

The new programmes reduce the duration of the Master’s degree from two years to one year for eligible FYUP graduates. FYUP graduates may already have completed a research or honours component during the fourth year of their undergraduate programme. The academic structure allows relevant credits from this stage to contribute towards the shorter postgraduate programme. The programmes have been structured in line with the NEP 2020 multiple-entry and multiple-exit framework. Students can also benefit from IGNOU’s credit-based flexibility and open-learning system.

How to Apply for IGNOU One-Year Master’s Programmes?

The application process is conducted completely online through the Samarth admission portal.

1. Visit the official portal at ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.
2. Register as a new applicant using an active email address and mobile number.
3. Enter your personal, academic and programme details carefully.
4. Upload scanned copies of the required documents in the prescribed format and size.
5. Pay the non-refundable ₹300 registration fee online.
6. Submit the application form.
7. Download and save the confirmation page for future reference.

Application Fee and Payment Methods

Candidates are required to pay a non-refundable registration fee of ₹300 for each application.

The fee can be paid through:

• Debit card
• Credit card
• UPI
• Separate programme tuition fees will be applicable during the enrolment process.
