DME Gujarat has released the post-Round 4 vacancy list for MD/MS and Diploma courses. 96 seats remain vacant across government and private medical colleges.

The Admission Committee for Professional Post Graduate Medical Educational Courses (ACPPGMEC), under the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) Gujarat, has released the updated vacancy report following the conclusion of Round 4 reporting. According to the official data, a total of 96 postgraduate medical seats remain unoccupied across various medical institutions in the state. This includes 94 seats in MD/MS programs and 2 seats in PG Diploma courses. The vacancy list accounts for seats under the Government Quota (GQ), Management Quota (MQ), and Institutional Quota (UQ).

The completion of the fourth round, which included the online stray vacancy allotment and physical reporting, has left a notable number of positions available in several clinical and non-clinical branches. These vacancies are primarily attributed to candidates opting for seats in the All India Quota (AIQ) or choosing to skip admissions in specific private institutions due to high fee structures. The committee has published the detailed college-wise and branch-wise breakdown on its official web portal for candidates still seeking admission.

Branch-Wise Vacancy Distribution

The vacancy report highlights a significant surplus of seats in non-clinical and pre-clinical subjects. Physiology leads the list with the highest number of available positions, followed closely by Anatomy and Community Medicine. Interestingly, some clinical seats in branches like Anaesthesiology and Paediatrics also remain vacant after the fourth round of state counselling.

In addition to the degree seats, two diploma positions are still available under the Government Quota. One seat is vacant for the Diploma in Ophthalmology (D.O.) and another for the Diploma in Public Health (D.P.H.). The distribution of these seats across quotas shows that while government colleges have vacancies in non-clinical branches, private medical colleges are seeing vacancies in clinical subjects.

Fee Refund and Security Deposit Notice

With the 2025-26 admission cycle nearing its absolute conclusion, the DME has also initiated the refund process for eligible candidates. Students who are entitled to a refund of their tuition fees or the ₹25,000 security deposit must provide their bank details through the official portal. This facility is available for candidates who either cancelled their admission within the permitted timeframe or were never allotted a seat during the entire counselling process.

The window for submitting bank details for these refunds remains active until April 5, 2026. Candidates must ensure that the bank account provided is active and belongs either to them or their parents. The committee has warned that security deposits will be forfeited for candidates who were allotted seats in Round 4 but failed to report to their respective colleges. For more information on the refund status, candidates should check the official medadmgujarat website.

Impact on Upcoming Admission Cycles

The current vacancy status in Gujarat reflects a national trend where high-fee management seats and non-clinical government seats often remain unfilled. For the upcoming NEET PG 2026 session, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) is expected to release the exam schedule shortly. Prospective students are advised to use this vacancy data to understand the competition levels and seat availability trends across different Gujarat-based medical colleges.

As the state admission committee prepares for the final close of this year's portal, any remaining seats may be subject to a special stray vacancy round, depending on further directions from the National Medical Commission (NMC). Candidates currently preparing for the next cycle should maintain their documentation, including internship completion certificates and updated category certificates. For national-level updates on PG medical education, the NMC official portal provides comprehensive guidelines and regulations.

Conclusion

The announcement of 96 vacant PG medical seats in Gujarat marks the final stage of the 2025-26 admission process. While Round 4 has concluded, the remaining seats in branches like Physiology and Anatomy highlight the shifting preferences of medical aspirants. Eligible candidates must now focus on the refund process for their security deposits before the April 5 deadline. With the next academic cycle on the horizon, these vacancy figures provide essential insights for future applicants regarding seat distribution in both government and private medical sectors.
