The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) has now released the GMAT Official Guide for 2025-2026, a pivotal resource that fully aligns with the new GMAT Focus Edition. This update confirms the exam's streamlined format and shifts its focus to skills essential for success in modern business.

The GMAT Focus Edition has been designed to be more efficient and directly relevant to the skills sought by business schools today. This is a significant change from previous versions and is a must-know for anyone starting their GMAT preparation. For regular updates on all management entrance exams, follow Only Education News.

Key Changes in the GMAT Focus Edition

The GMAT Focus Edition has introduced several major changes that aspirants need to be aware of. The new format is shorter and more flexible, making the test-taking experience less daunting.

  • Shorter Duration: The exam is now 2 hours and 15 minutes long, a significant reduction from the previous version. Each of the three sections is timed at 45 minutes.
  • New Scoring Scale: The new score range is from 205 to 805, reflecting a balanced emphasis on all three sections of the test.
  • New Section: The Integrated Reasoning section has been renamed Data Insights and now includes Data Sufficiency questions, which were previously in the Quantitative section.
  • Section Removal: The Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) essay section has been completely removed from the exam.
  • Question Type Changes: The Verbal Reasoning section no longer contains Sentence Correction questions, and geometry is no longer tested in the Quantitative section. The exam now focuses on higher-order reasoning, data literacy, and critical thinking.

The new GMAT Focus Edition allows candidates to choose the order in which they take the three sections, providing more control over their test-day strategy. Additionally, a new "Question Review & Edit" tool allows test-takers to go back and change up to three answers per section before time runs out.

GMAT Official Guide 2025-2026: A Must-Have Resource

The release of the new official guide is a clear sign that GMAT preparation must be fully aligned with the GMAT Focus Edition format. The guide includes more than 975 practice questions, with over 100 brand-new questions not found in previous editions.

Using this guide is essential for several reasons:

  • Avoid Outdated Content: The new guide removes old questions from the previous format, ensuring that students do not waste valuable time studying question types that no longer appear on the exam.
  • Enhanced Data Insights Coverage: The guide provides more comprehensive coverage of the Data Insights section, which is a key component of the new exam and reflects the growing importance of data analysis in the business world.
  • Accuracy: All questions and explanations are created by the test-makers themselves, ensuring a precise and reliable study experience.

For any GMAT aspirant, investing in the new Official Guide is the most effective way to prepare for the MBA admission process and score well on the GMAT exam.
