Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has issued the comprehensive admission guidelines for its undergraduate medical and AYUSH programs for the 2026-27 academic session. As of March 21, 2026, the university has clarified that admissions to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, and BHMS will be strictly based on the NEET-UG 2026 merit scores.

A significant highlight of this year's notification is the detailed breakdown of age limits and region-specific eligibility, which are crucial for high school students in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi and across India.

Eligibility and Age Limits for Medical Aspirants

The university has set specific age caps for different categories of programs as of August 1, 2026:

Program CategoryAge Limit (Upper Cap)Specific Date Requirement
MBBS / BAMS / BHMS25 YearsMust be 25 or under by Dec 31, 2026
BDS / Other UG Programs21 YearsCalculated as of Aug 1, 2026
Postgraduate (MD/MS)35 YearsFor programs requiring graduation

Minimum Age Requirement: For all undergraduate medical courses (MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BHMS), candidates must have attained the age of 17 years on or before December 31, 2026.

Academic Requirements and Qualifying Marks

Candidates must have passed the Class 12 (10+2) examination or equivalent from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English (Core/Elective/Functional).

  • General/EWS Category: Minimum 50% marks aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology.
  • SC/ST/OBC Category: Minimum 40% marks aggregate in the same subjects.
  • Individual Passing: Candidates must pass in each of the four core subjects individually to be eligible for the counseling process.

Regional Quota and Domicile Rules

GGSIPU follows a strict seat distribution policy that prioritizes local students for specific colleges:

  1. Delhi Region (85% Quota): Reserved for candidates who have passed their qualifying examination (11th and 12th) from a recognized school located within the NCT of Delhi.
  2. Outside Delhi Region (15% Quota): Open to candidates from schools outside Delhi, regardless of their current residence.
  3. Special Note for BDS: For the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program, the university emphasizes that candidates must have studied 11th and 12th regularly from a Delhi-based school to claim a seat under the Delhi quota.

Counseling Authority and Registration

  • MBBS & BDS: While GGSIPU sets the eligibility, the actual counseling for these seats is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the DGHS, Government of India.
  • BAMS & BHMS: Admissions are typically handled through the university's centralized online counseling based on NEET-UG ranks.
  • Application Fee: The university registration fee for the academic session is ₹2,500 plus applicable taxes.

Aspirants are advised to ensure that their personal details on the GGSIPU application exactly match their NEET-UG 2026 records to avoid rejection during document verification.
