The journey towards securing a coveted MBBS seat in one of Delhi's premier institutions under Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has entered its final major phase. The university has issued a vital notification announcing the tentative start date for the Round 3 of MBBS Counselling for the academic session 2025-2026. This announcement is a crucial signal for all medical aspirants who have yet to secure a seat, urging them to prepare for the choice filling and locking process.

Round 3 Counselling Begins Today (Tentatively)

According to the notification released by the GGSIPU Academic Branch, the process for Round 3 of MBBS Counselling (Code 103) is scheduled to commence tentatively from the evening of October 6, 2025.

While the counselling is set to begin today, aspirants must note that the detailed schedule outlining the exact procedures, payment windows, choice-filling timelines, and seat allotment results was slated for release on October 5, 2025. All candidates are strongly advised to check the official GGSIPU website immediately for this detailed schedule, as the window for participation in GGSIPU MBBS Round 3 is typically very narrow. Missing the registration or choice-locking deadline will mean missing out on a valuable opportunity for admission.

Critical Reservation Rules for Delhi Region Seats

Aspirants competing for seats in GGSIPU affiliated colleges must pay close attention to the intricate reservation rules, especially concerning the Delhi and Outside Delhi regions. The university has provided specific clarifications regarding eligibility for reserved categories, which directly impact the final seat allotment:

  1. Delhi Reserved Category Eligibility: A candidate can claim a seat under the Delhi Reserved category (like SC/ST) only if their qualifying examination (Class 11th and 12th) was passed from an institute/college located in Delhi, and their reservation certificate (e.g., SC/ST certificate) was issued by the Competent Authority of Delhi.
  2. Outside Delhi Reserved Category: If a candidate passed their qualifying examination from Outside Delhi, they are eligible only for the Outside Delhi Reserved category, regardless of where their certificate was issued.
  3. OBC-NCL and EWS Certificates: For the OBC-NCL category (which has a 27% reservation only in University Schools and Government Institutions), the certificate must be digitally signed and issued to an original resident of Delhi prior to 1993. Furthermore, for both OBC-NCL and EWS categories, the certificates must have a validity period for the financial year 2025-2026. The EWS certificate must be issued after March 31, 2025.

Candidates whose documents are not in compliance with these strict rules risk having their reservation claim forfeited, automatically converting their candidature to the General Category as per university regulations.

Final Steps for Medical Aspirants

The GGSIPU MBBS Round 3 is crucial as it seeks to fill the remaining vacant seats before the closure of the MBBS admissions process for the year. Aspirants must:

  • Verify Credentials: Keep their login IDs and passwords confidential and ready.
  • Check Eligibility: Re-confirm that they meet all minimum eligibility criteria, especially the regional and category requirements, to avoid cancellation of allotment later on.
  • Avoid Last-Minute Rush: The university strictly warns against applying at the last minute due to potential network issues.

This is the decisive phase for those aiming to kickstart their career in medicine through the Delhi state quota.
