The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is set to conclude the final compliance window for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) December 2025 session today. Candidates who were flagged for deficiencies in their applications, particularly regarding primary medical qualification certificates (PMQC) or eligibility certificates, must complete their submissions by 11:55 PM tonight. This stage is a critical precursor to the screening test scheduled for later this month, as the board has clarified that no further opportunities for document rectification will be provided.

Final Deadline for Deficient Document Submission

The current portal for compliance has been active since late December, allowing thousands of Indian medical graduates from foreign universities to rectify errors that could otherwise lead to their disqualification. The primary focus of this final check is the verification of the Apostilled or Embassy-attested PMQC and valid proof of citizenship. As today, January 7, is the absolute cutoff, any candidate failing to provide the required evidence will find their candidature cancelled without a refund of the examination fee.

Following the closure of this window, the NBEMS will finalize the list of eligible candidates who will be issued hall tickets. According to the official schedule, the admit cards are expected to be released on January 14, 2026. The board has strictly advised candidates that the issuance of an admit card is purely provisional and subject to the successful compliance of all eligibility norms established by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

  • Final Correction Deadline: January 7, 2026 (11:55 PM).
  • Admit Card Release: January 14, 2026.
  • Examination Date: January 17, 2026.
  • Result Declaration: Expected by February 17, 2026.

Examination Logistics and Screening Standards

The FMGE screening test is a mandatory licensing exam for Indian citizens with foreign medical degrees who wish to practice in India. The December 2025 session, which is being held on January 17, will follow the standard two-part computer-based format. Each part consists of 150 multiple-choice questions, and candidates must secure a minimum of 150 marks out of 300 to qualify. The board has integrated biometric and face ID verification at all test centers to ensure the integrity of the candidature throughout the testing process.

Conclusion

As the compliance phase nears its end tonight, the focus for aspirants shifts entirely to the final week of revision. The FMGE remains one of the most challenging licensing exams in the country, with historical pass rates often staying below 25%. Successfully navigating the screening process is only the first step; once results are declared in February, qualified doctors will begin the in-person pass certificate collection and subsequent registration with State Medical Councils. For now, the immediate priority for all applicants is ensuring their candidature remains valid by resolving any pending document discrepancies before the midnight deadline.
