In a crucial update for thousands of postgraduate medical aspirants, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has set the final deadline for the NEET PG 2025 Round 1 All India Quota (AIQ) choice filling and locking process. Candidates must finalize their course and college preferences on the official website, mcc.nic.in, by November 18, 2025.
The Round 1 schedule experienced an initial postponement after the National Medical Commission (NMC) announced a revision in the seat matrix, which notably included the addition of 2,337 new PG medical seats. This extension grants aspirants a critical last window to adjust their priority lists in light of the expanded seat inventory, maximizing their chances for admission to MD, MS, and PG Diploma programmes across central and deemed universities and 50% AIQ seats in government colleges.
Revised MCC Round 1 Schedule and Key Dates
The revised schedule confirms the next immediate steps in the AIQ counselling process:
| Event | Date |
|---|---|
| Choice Filling and Locking Last Date | November 18, 2025 |
| Seat Allotment Result Date | November 20, 2025 |
| Admission and Reporting Date | November 21 to November 27, 2025 |
It is paramount that candidates submit and lock their choices before the deadline, as the system will strictly follow the finalized list. Failure to lock choices may lead to the forfeiture of potential allotment in this round.
State Counselling Updates Across India
While the MCC manages the AIQ seats, various state counselling bodies are simultaneously running their admission processes for the remaining 50% state quota seats. Aspirants participating in both quotas must track multiple schedules carefully, as a seat acceptance in MCC Round 2 generally leads to the automatic cancellation of an earlier AIQ Round 1 seat.
Notable updates from state counselling authorities as of today, November 17, 2025, include:
- Karnataka: The Round 1 schedule for Non-service candidates has been released, with the Option Entry process scheduled to begin on November 18, 2025.
- Uttar Pradesh (UP): The registration and fee payment window for UP NEET PG 2025 Round 1 concluded recently (November 13). Aspirants are currently awaiting the release of the detailed counselling schedule, including the choice-filling dates, which is expected shortly.
- Punjab: The Round 1 choice filling process has been extended until further notice, pending subsequent releases from the state authority.
- Maharashtra: The state's counselling process has been stopped until further notice, indicating a potential revision in their schedule or seat matrix.
Aspirants are strongly advised to regularly check the respective state websites alongside mcc.nic.in for official notifications. This period requires continuous monitoring and strategic decision-making regarding college and specialty preferences to secure a seat.
