Medical aspirants who secured admission to the MBBS course in Telangana under the Competent Authority Quota must make their final decision today. The Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) has set today, October 15, 2025, at 5:00 PM, as the absolute deadline for candidates to utilize the 'free exit' option from their allotted seats. This last-minute extension, granted by KNRUHS, is critical as it marks the final opportunity for students to withdraw without forfeiting their admission fee, ahead of the commencement of the subsequent and decisive counselling rounds.

The Importance of the Free Exit Deadline

The free exit provision is a significant window offered by KNRUHS for students who were allocated seats during the first and second phases of the state counselling but may now wish to opt for a different seat through the All India Quota (AIQ) or another state's counselling process.

Here are the key aspects of this deadline:

  • Final Decision Point: The deadline of 5:00 PM today is the last chance for candidates to exit the Telangana State Quota seats (Competent Authority Quota) without incurring any financial penalty or jeopardizing their eligibility for further counselling rounds.
  • Consequence of Missing the Deadline: After the 5:00 PM cutoff, any candidate who has secured an MBBS seat in the state will not be permitted to withdraw. Their seat will be deemed confirmed, and attempting to resign later may result in the forfeiture of their tuition fee and potentially being barred from other state counselling rounds, as per the rules of the third/mop-up round.
  • Data Upload Mandate: In alignment with this deadline, KNRUHS has directed the Principals of all affiliated Medical Colleges to upload the final admission data of candidates who have not opted for the free exit onto the official portal by 5:30 PM on October 15, 2025. This ensures an accurate list of vacant seats is prepared immediately for the next phase of counselling.

Counselling Synchronization and Future Rounds

This finalization of the free exit option in Telangana is crucial for the efficient progression of the overall medical admission process. Seats relinquished during this window will be included in the subsequent Mop-Up or Stray Vacancy Rounds of the state counselling, providing new chances for lower-ranked candidates.

Aspirants who are contemplating resignation must carefully weigh their options, particularly if they are expecting a better seat in the MCC's Round 3 or the upcoming State Quota Mop-Up Rounds. The decision made today is irreversible for the purpose of a penalty-free withdrawal.

Students are strongly advised to check the official KNRUHS website for any final instructions and ensure their decision—whether to retain or surrender the seat—is implemented through the appropriate official channels before the 5:00 PM deadline.
