The Directorate General of Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) has issued a critical directive for candidates allotted Super-Speciality seats in Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) institutions during Round 1 of NEET SS 2025-26 Counselling. As of today, March 23, 2026, all such allottees are required to report to their designated AFMS hospitals for a mandatory medical examination. This step is a prerequisite for final admission into the prestigious Doctorate of Medicine (DM) and Master of Chirurgiae (M.Ch) programs within the defense medical sector.

Reporting for the medical board is a time-sensitive requirement. Candidates who fail to appear by the end of today risk the cancellation of their Round 1 allotment, as the AFMS follows a strict "Medical Fitness" protocol that differs from civilian medical colleges.

Mandatory Medical Examination Protocol

Unlike other government or private medical colleges, AFMS institutions require candidates to meet specific physical and medical standards set by the Ministry of Defence.

The examination typically includes:

  • General Physical Standards: Assessment of BMI, vision, and hearing.
  • Systemic Evaluation: Detailed check-ups of the cardiovascular, respiratory, and neurological systems.
  • Specialized Tests: Imaging and laboratory investigations to rule out chronic conditions that could interfere with the rigorous training and service requirements of the Armed Forces.

Reporting Details and Documentation

Aspirants must report to the Commandant of the allotted AFMS hospital (such as Army Hospital R&R, Delhi; AFMC, Pune; or CH-AF, Bangalore) with the following original documents:

  1. NEET SS 2025 Allotment Letter: Issued by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
  2. NEET SS Scorecard and Admit Card.
  3. Post-Graduate (MD/MS/DNB) Degree Certificate.
  4. Permanent State/Central Medical Council Registration.
  5. Recent Passport-size Photographs: (at least 8–10 copies).
  6. Identity Proof: Aadhaar Card or PAN Card.

What Happens After the Medical Exam?

  • Declared Fit: Candidates found medically fit will proceed to complete the fee payment and administrative joining formalities at the respective institute.
  • Declared Unfit: If a candidate is found temporarily unfit, they may be given a specific window for a "Review Medical Board." However, if declared permanently unfit, the seat will be reverted to the MCC for the Round 2 seat matrix.

Why Choose AFMS for Super-Speciality?

AFMS institutions are among the top-ranked medical centers in India, offering unparalleled clinical exposure and advanced research facilities. For PG medical students, these seats represent a unique career path that combines high-end clinical practice with the honor of serving in the military. It is important to remember that most AFMS seats carry a Service Bond or a financial penalty if the candidate chooses to leave the service after completing their DM/M.Ch.

Aspirants are advised to check the official DGAFMS website and the MCC portal for any last-minute notifications regarding reporting extensions or change in venues.
