The CUET UG exams for 2026 have been postponed by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Both the morning and afternoon sessions have been moved to a later date because of a decision by the Government of India to delay the Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) holiday from April 30, 2026, to May 28, 2026. This change has been made to ensure that candidates are not affected by the religious observance of Id-ul-Zuha. The exact new dates for the exams will be announced later. Candidates are advised to regularly check the NTA website, nta.ac.in, for the latest updates and information.

Implications of the Announcement for Candidates
Candidates who had applied to take the CUET UG 2026 exam on May 28, 2026, need to know that the exam has been postponed. There is no action required from the candidates until the new exam date is officially announced. The existing admit card remains valid, and all candidate details will stay the same unless there is a change. Information about the new exam date will be shared through official channels.
Reasons Behind the Decision to Postpone the Exam
The Government of India announced the change in date to accommodate the observance of Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid). Since this is a gazetted holiday, NTA decided to adjust the exam dates. This decision shows NTA’s effort to be considerate and responsive while organizing the exams.
How Should Candidates Act?
Candidates should not make any changes to their admit cards or registration details. They must keep their admit card and required documents safe. It is important for them to regularly check the NTA website, nta.ac.in, for updates on the revised exam schedule. Also, candidates should make sure their contact information on the NTA website is current. They should continue preparing for the exam and be ready to appear on the new date once it is announced.
Important Information
This change applies only to the CUET UG 2026 exam slots originally scheduled for May 28, 2026. Other exam dates for CUET UG 2026 are not affected by this change. There will be no extra fees for the new exam date. The current registrations and applications remain valid even after the date change.
