CMAT 2026 Final Result Announcement Expected in Mid-February Window

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is in the final stages of processing the CMAT 2026 results, with an official announcement anticipated between February 13 and February 15, 2026. Following the high-stakes examination conducted on January 25, the agency successfully closed the provisional answer key objection window on February 2. Currently, a panel of subject matter experts is reviewing the contested responses to finalize the merit list. For the thousands of aspirants awaiting their performance reports, this mid-February window is a critical period that determines their eligibility for premier B-schools. The results will be hosted exclusively on the NTA CMAT Official Website, where candidates can log in using their application number and date of birth to access their digital scorecards.

Understanding the Normalization Process and Percentile

Since CMAT 2026 was conducted across multiple shifts to accommodate the large volume of test-takers, the NTA employs a sophisticated normalization process. This method ensures that no candidate is at a disadvantage due to varying difficulty levels between the morning and afternoon sessions.

• NTA Score Calculation: The raw marks obtained by a candidate are converted into a percentile score, often referred to as the NTA Score.
• Equi-percentile Method: This statistical technique aligns scores from different shifts onto a common scale, making them comparable for the final merit list.
• Tie-Breaking Rule: In instances where multiple candidates secure the same percentile, the NTA uses a predetermined hierarchy, often prioritizing candidates with higher scores in the "Quantitative Techniques" or "Logical Reasoning" sections.
• Accuracy: To prevent the "bunching effect" and ensure precise ranking, percentile scores are calculated up to seven decimal places.

Post-Result Roadmap: Scoring vs. Admissions

Once the results are declared, the focus shifts from examination to selection. While the NTA provides the scorecard, individual institutes conduct their own independent admission rounds.

• Score Validity: It is important to note that the CMAT 2026 scorecard is valid only for the academic year 2026-27.
• Institutional Cut-offs: High-ranking institutes like JBIMS Mumbai typically set their cut-offs above the 99.9 percentile for the All India category.
• GD/PI Preparation: Most colleges will commence their Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds within 15 to 20 days of the result declaration.
