CLAT 2027 Notification Expected Soon: Registration, Eligibility, Exam Pattern and Important Dates

Law aspirants have something to look forward to — the Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLUs) is expected to roll out the CLAT 2027 notification soon. Once released, it'll cover everything students need: registration schedule, eligibility criteria, exam pattern, syllabus, application fee, and the full list of participating NLUs.

If you're eyeing a five-year integrated LLB program or a postgraduate law course, now's a good time to start pulling your documents together. The application process is expected to open in the first week of August 2026, and the exam itself is tentatively set for December 6, 2026 — covering admissions to 24 NLUs and over 60 affiliated private law colleges across the country.

CLAT 2027 Important Dates (Tentative)

Could This Year's CLAT Look Different?

Here's something worth watching closely — reports suggest a committee headed by Justice Indu Malhotra is currently reviewing the CLAT exam system, and there's a chance it could recommend changes aimed at making the test more transparent and better structured overall. That said, nothing's confirmed yet. We'll only know for sure once the official notification is out, so it's best to hold off on assumptions until then.

Who's Eligible for CLAT 2027?

To apply for CLAT UG 2027, you need to have either passed Class 12 or currently be appearing for it, from a recognized board. Even students with a compartment exam pending can apply, as long as they clear it before admissions are finalized.

Good news for anyone worried about age cut-offs — there's no upper age limit for either CLAT UG or CLAT PG.

Getting Your Documents Ready

When registration opens, you'll need scanned copies of a recent passport-size photo, your signature, category certificate (if applicable), domicile certificate for reservation claims, and the usual academic documents. You'll also get to pick up to three preferred exam cities during the application — though keep in mind, the Consortium makes the final call on which centre you actually get, based on availability.

There's usually a correction window offered before admit cards go out, which is helpful if you spot a typo or two. But a heads-up: things like reservation category, programme choice, and BPL status typically can't be changed once you've paid the application fee — so it's worth double-checking those fields carefully before you submit.

Where Can You Use Your CLAT Score?

CLAT scores open doors to 24 National Law Universities plus more than 60 affiliated private institutions across India — covering both undergraduate integrated law programs and postgraduate LLM courses.

Bottom Line

With the notification expected any day now, this is really the right time to start preparing and getting your paperwork in order — no point waiting until the last minute. Keep checking the official Consortium website regularly, since that's where all authentic updates on the notification, registration timeline, and exam pattern will show up first.
