The most crucial news for candidates is the extension of the NEET UG 2025 Round 3 choice filling and locking window. Candidates now have until 11:59 P.M. on October 13, 2025, to finalize their preferences on the official MCC website, mcc.nic.in.

In a major development that brings significant relief and new opportunities for medical aspirants, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for NEET UG has extended the deadline for Round 3 choice filling. The decision comes after the National Medical Commission (NMC) announced a massive update to the NEET UG 2025 seat matrix, adding over 9,075 new MBBS seats across various states.

MCC Extends Choice Filling Window

The most crucial news for candidates is the extension of the NEET UG 2025 Round 3 choice filling and locking window. Candidates now have until 11:59 P.M. on October 13, 2025, to finalize their preferences on the official MCC website, mcc.nic.in.

This extension was necessitated by the addition of a substantial number of new seats. Aspirants are strongly advised to log in immediately and re-evaluate their college choices based on the updated seat matrix, as the inclusion of new seats can significantly alter the cut-offs and improve their chances of securing a seat.

NMC’s Historic Seat Addition

The NMC has revised the official seat matrix, which now accounts for a total of 1,26,600 MBBS seats in India for the academic year 2025-26. The key highlights of this revision are:

  • 9,075 New Seats Approved: This large-scale approval reflects the government’s commitment to expanding medical education and increasing the doctor-to-population ratio.
  • Targeted Expansion: States like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Karnataka are among those that have seen notable increases in their MBBS intake capacity, primarily in newer or recently upgraded medical colleges.
  • Seat Withdrawals: However, aspirants should note that 456 seats have been removed from the matrix due to pending court cases and regulatory non-compliance, emphasizing the importance of checking the latest official seat matrix before finalizing choices.

The Round 3 seat allotment result, which was already delayed due to the seat additions, is now expected to be announced shortly after the extended choice locking deadline. Candidates who successfully lock their choices on October 13 can expect the subsequent seat allotment and the institute reporting process to commence immediately after the results are published.

State Counselling Updates: Rajasthan & Puducherry

In related state-level news:

  • Rajasthan NEET UG 2025: The window for new registrations and fee deposit for Round 3 has also concluded, with the final process for choice filling and security deposit payment expected to be finalized soon.
  • CENTAC (Puducherry): The deadline for Round 3 registration and submission of course preferences for MBBS and BDS admissions was also set for October 13, 2025. This aligns the state counselling process with the revised MCC schedule.

Aspirants who are participating in both All India and State Quota counselling must ensure all their registration and choice-filling formalities are completed by today's deadline. This round represents a crucial final opportunity for many to secure admission in the 2025-26 academic session.
