CENTAC Extends Round 3 Deadlines for NEET UG 2025 Counselling in Puducherry
The Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC), responsible for medical admissions in Puducherry, has announced a crucial extension of deadlines for the Round 3 NEET UG 2025 Counselling.

The Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC), responsible for medical admissions in Puducherry, has announced a crucial extension of deadlines for the Round 3 NEET UG 2025 Counselling. This extension is a direct consequence of the revised schedule released by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for the All India Quota, ensuring alignment across the national and state counselling processes.
Key Extensions for Aspirants
The recent notice from CENTAC provides relief to candidates who are yet to finalize their participation in this critical round. The key deadlines that have been extended are:
- Willingness Submission and Course Preferences: The new cutoff time for candidates to complete the submission of their willingness to participate, along with the selection of course preferences, is now October 15, 2025, up to 5:00 p.m.
- Registration Fee Payment: The deadline for payment of the registration fee for Round 3 has also been moved to October 15, 2025, by 5:00 p.m.
This extension grants candidates an additional day to deliberate, finalize their college choices, and ensure all necessary payment formalities are completed, thereby avoiding exclusion from the final main allotment round.
Resignation Window Also Extended
In addition to registration and choice filling, CENTAC has also provided a necessary extension for the resignation/withdrawal process for candidates who participated in the earlier rounds:
- Resignation/Withdrawal Deadline: Candidates who were allotted seats in Round 1 or Round 2 but wish to resign or withdraw their admission (with forfeiture of fee) must submit their Resignation Request Letter through their candidate login dashboard by October 15, 2025, 5:00 p.m.
This provision is vital for candidates aiming for an upgrade in the All India Quota (AIQ) or other State Quotas, or simply wishing to exit the Puducherry counselling process within the stipulated guidelines.
Context and Remaining Schedule
CENTAC’s decision to align its schedule with the MCC is a standard practice to prevent candidates from missing out due to overlapping deadlines. The revised MCC schedule indicates that the All India Quota (AIQ)/Deemed/Central Universities' Round 3 choice locking facility is available until October 16, 2025.
Aspirants for medical seats in Puducherry—including those under the UT's domicile quota—must act swiftly to utilize this small window. Since Round 3 is typically the penultimate phase before the Stray Vacancy round, any failure to complete the preferences or payment by the extended deadline of October 15 will severely hamper a candidate's chances of securing an MBBS seat this academic year.
