The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay is currently facilitating the ongoing download window for the CEED 2026 admit cards. With the national-level entrance examination scheduled for January 18, 2026, the candidate portal remains a hive of activity as thousands of design aspirants secure their entry documents. This year, the admit card serves as the mandatory identification for students aiming for Master of Design (M.Des) and Ph.D. admissions across the country's top technical institutes.

Final Phase of Admit Card Distribution

The download facility, which was activated earlier this month, is designed to remain operational right up until the morning of the test. While the correction window for discrepancies closed on January 8, candidates can still access their verified hall tickets by logging into the official portal using their email ID and password.

  • Credential Requirement: Aspirants must use their registered login information on the official website, ceed.iitb.ac.in, to retrieve the admit card.
  • Instructional Review: Each hall ticket contains specific guidelines regarding the examination center, reporting time, and prohibited items, which candidates are expected to read thoroughly.
  • Physical Copy: It is mandatory to carry a printed color copy of the admit card to the venue; digital versions on mobile phones will not be accepted by the invigilators.
  • Identity Proof: The document must be presented alongside a valid government-issued photo identity proof to gain entry into the test center.

CEED 2026: Dual-Part Examination Structure

The Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) is structured into two distinct segments, both of which will be conducted on the same day. This format is intended to test both the theoretical knowledge and the practical sketching skills of the candidates.

Exam Component

Mode of Conduct

Duration

Part A

Online (Computer-Based)

1 Hour (09:00 AM - 10:00 AM)

Part B

Total Marks

250 Marks

3 Hours Total

  • Part A Evaluation: This section acts as a screening test, consisting of objective questions like NAT, MSQ, and MCQ. Only those who clear the Part A cutoff will have their Part B evaluated.
  • Part B Skills: This segment focuses on subjective tasks including sketching, creativity, and problem identification, which are critical for the final CEED merit ranking.
  • Candidate Shortlisting: The final scorecard will reflect the performance in both sections, though Part A is primarily used to filter the initial pool of applicants.

Conclusion

As the countdown to the January 18 examination continues, the focus for most applicants has shifted from registration to documentation. The availability of the admit card online ensures a streamlined process for students spread across various testing cities. IIT Bombay has maintained that the CEED ranking remains a vital criterion for admission into the prestigious IDC School of Design and other participating IITs. Following the successful conduct of the test, the draft answer keys for Part A are expected to be released on January 20, allowing candidates to estimate their scores before the official results in March. Securing the admit card early is the final administrative step before students enter the highly competitive arena of design entrance testing.
