With the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED 2026) less than a week away, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay is facilitating the final phase of hall ticket distribution. The download link, which went live on January 2, remains accessible for all successfully registered candidates. As of today, January 12, the portal is hosting a high volume of traffic as aspirants secure their credentials for the national-level test. This examination is the primary gateway for students seeking admission to Master of Design (M.Des) and Ph.D. programs at premier institutes, including various IITs and IISc Bangalore.

Essential Steps for Downloading the Hall Ticket

The CEED 2026 admission process requires every candidate to possess a valid, printed version of their admit card. The document serves not only as an entry pass but also as a record for biometric verification at the test center.

  • Accessing the Document: To retrieve the admit card, candidates must visit the official portal and log in using their registered email ID and password. The institute has advised students to check for any browser compatibility issues if the download does not start immediately.
  • Verification of Details: Upon downloading, it is mandatory to verify the accuracy of the displayed information, including the candidate’s name, roll number, and the specific address of the exam center.
  • Rectification Window: While the official window for reporting discrepancies closed on January 8, candidates experiencing major technical issues with their hall ticket are encouraged to contact the CEED office at IIT Bombay via the emergency helpdesk email provided on the website.

Exam Day Schedule and Reporting Protocols

The CEED 2026 examination is scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 18, in a single morning shift. The test is divided into two distinct parts: Part-A, which is computer-based, and Part-B, which focuses on manual drawing and design skills.

It is important to note that the hall ticket will specify a gate closing time, usually 30 minutes before the commencement of the test. Candidates arriving after the gate has closed will not be permitted to enter the exam hall under any circumstances. Furthermore, the biometric data collection, including thumbprints and photographs, must be completed before the 9:00 AM start time.

Conclusion

As the January 18 exam date approaches, the focus for aspirants shifts from preparation to logistical readiness. Ensuring that the CEED 2026 admit card is printed clearly—preferably in color to ensure the photograph is recognizable—is a critical final step. Candidates should also familiarize themselves with the location of their allotted centers today to avoid travel delays on Sunday morning. After the test concludes, IIT Bombay is expected to release the draft answer keys on January 20, marking the next milestone in the admission cycle. For now, the priority remains the successful retrieval of the hall ticket from the official portal.
