The wait is almost over for thousands of MBA aspirants across India. The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2025, the gateway to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and numerous other top-tier business schools, will officially open its registration window tomorrow, August 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM. This crucial announcement, made with the release of the official CAT 2025 notification on July 27, marks the beginning of the admission cycle for the 2026-28 MBA/PGDM batch.
IIM Kozhikode, the coordinating IIM for CAT 2025, will oversee the conduct of this highly competitive examination. The CAT 2025 exam itself is scheduled for Sunday, November 30, 2025, and will be held in three sessions across various test cities nationwide.

Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks or an equivalent CGPA (45% for candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories) from a recognized university. Final year students and those awaiting their results are also eligible to apply, provided they submit a certificate of completion from their institution by a specified date. There is no upper age limit for CAT.
Application Process – Get Ready! The entire application process for CAT 2025 is online, conducted through the official IIMCAT website, iimcat.ac.in. Aspirants are strongly advised to prepare the following documents in scanned format before attempting to register tomorrow:
- Scanned Passport-sized Photograph: Recent (not older than 6 months), with a white or off-white background.
- Scanned Signature: Clear signature on a white background.
- Category Certificate (if applicable): For SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD candidates, in the format prescribed by CAT and self-attested.
- Academic Documents: Class 10th and 12th mark sheets, and Graduation mark sheets/certificates.
- Work Experience Certificates (if applicable): For full-time work experience after graduation.
Application Fee:
- INR 1,300 for SC, ST, and PwD category candidates.
- INR 2,600 for all other categories. The fee is payable online through Credit/Debit Card, Internet Banking, or other digital payment modes.
Why Register Early? While the registration window is open until mid-September, registering early is highly recommended to avoid last-minute technical glitches and to secure preferred test cities. Candidates can select up to six test cities in order of their preference.
The CAT exam, a computer-based test of two hours duration with sectional time limits, assesses candidates on Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA).
