The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, is currently managing the transition into the next phase of the BITSAT 2026 admission cycle. As of today, March 27, 2026, the focus has shifted toward examination logistics for international candidates. A primary concern for students residing in the Middle East is the status of the Dubai examination centre. While the institute has a long-standing tradition of conducting exams at its Dubai campus, recent updates to the examination timeline have led to questions regarding the finality of these arrangements.

BITSAT is the primary entrance gateway for students aiming to secure a seat in the integrated first-degree programs across the Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad campuses. For the 2026 academic session, the institute listed two international locations in its official brochure: Dubai (UAE) and Kathmandu (Nepal). The registration period for Session 1, which included the option for overseas candidates to select these centres, concluded on March 19, 2026. Following this, a brief correction window was provided on March 21 and March 22 to allow students to rectify any errors in their application forms.

The test city allotment process is a critical milestone in the BITSAT calendar. According to the revised schedule, the announcement of test city allotments is expected by March 28, 2026. This notification informs candidates of the specific city where they will be required to appear for the test. For those who selected Dubai, the institute typically designates the BITS Pilani Dubai Campus as the sole venue. Unlike candidates choosing Indian cities, those opting for the Dubai centre were not required to provide additional city preferences during the registration phase.

Once the city allotment is confirmed, the next mandatory step is the slot booking process. The Online Test Booking System (OTBS) is scheduled to be active from March 29 to March 31, 2026. During this three-day window, candidates must log in to the official portal to reserve their specific test date and time slot. This process operates on a first-come, first-served basis. If a candidate fails to book a slot manually, the system will automatically assign an available timing. For international students, securing a preferred slot is often a priority to manage travel and local logistics effectively.

The BITSAT 2026 Session 1 examinations are scheduled to take place on April 15 and April 16, 2026. The institute has emphasized that the admit card, which contains the exact address of the exam venue and reporting instructions, will only be available for download from April 10, 2026. Only those who successfully complete the slot booking process will be able to access their hall tickets. For the Dubai centre, the exam is conducted in a computer-based format, consistent with the standards maintained at Indian centres.

Candidates who wish to improve their performance or those who missed the first session have the opportunity to apply for Session 2. The registration window for the second session will open on April 20 and remain active until May 2, 2026. The Session 2 exams are slated for the final week of May. The institute considers the better of the two scores for the final merit list and admission process.

conclusion

The uncertainty regarding the Dubai centre highlights the importance of the upcoming city allotment announcement on March 28. International candidates are advised to keep their login credentials ready for the slot booking window starting on March 29. Ensuring a confirmed slot and downloading the admit card on time will be the final steps before the Session 1 exams begin in mid-April.
