Candidates need to have scanned copies of all required documents ready before uploading them. These documents may include photos, signatures, academic records, and certificates related to experience or category (where applicable). Each document uploaded should be smaller than 1024 KB. The total number of students chosen for the merit list in each program and discipline will be strictly based on the seat matrix prepared for that specific program and course. Once a college or university accepts a candidate for their program, they must complete the admission process following all necessary documentation and following institutional and university rules.
Additionally, the institution may also check the income certificates of the candidates during the admission process. If there is any doubt about a candidate's claim of having an annual income less than ₹4 lakh, the institution can ask for supporting documents to verify the claim. If the institution finds the fee waiver claim questionable or false, they must inform the applicant in writing and admit them under the non-fee waiver category.
Assam UG Admission 2026 Merit List Formation and Admission Offer Procedure
- Once the academic validation is done successfully, the higher education institutions will create the merit list automatically via the admission portal and mark the candidates for admission.
- After the records are tagged and saved, the merit list can be viewed by students on the SAMARTH portal under the merit list section.
- Candidates who have been offered admission will receive a message with a URL link on their registered email and mobile number.
- To confirm the admission, the candidate must log in to the admission portal and accept the offer.
Once the offer is accepted, the college or university can proceed with registration and admit the candidate.
- For future merit lists, if a student who has already been admitted receives an offer for a program or college with a higher priority, they can apply for withdrawal. The withdrawal application can be submitted on the first day of the new merit list announcement until 5:00 PM.
- The withdrawal request will be processed automatically, allowing the candidate to join their preferred institution.
- If the enrollment fee was paid through the integrated payment gateway, the amount will be refunded automatically.
- However, if the fee was paid in cash, the candidate needs to collect it personally from the respective institution.
What should students do now?
The colleges have the choice to release a waiting list, but it's not required. If a student's on the waiting list but not on the final merit list, neither the Department of Higher Education nor SAMARTH will be responsible. The admission schedule may change due to unexpected events like natural disasters. Any changes will be announced officially. For transparency, students must give their consent. Also, the institutions are not allowed to keep the original documents of the applicants.
If students need help, they can contact admission.samarth@gauhati.ac.in or call 9864978356 on WhatsApp. However, it's better to first reach out to the help desk of their college using the "Contact Us" option on the website. The SAMARTH website also has several useful resources, including guides for registration, login, user guides, and the admission process.
