Guwahati, August 27, 2025: Today marks a crucial day for medical and dental aspirants in Assam as the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) officially begins the online registration for the second round of NEET 2025 counselling. This round is for admission into vacant MBBS and BDS seats in the state's government medical and dental colleges under the state quota.

This is a key opportunity for candidates who qualified in the NEET-UG 2025 examination. The online portal, accessible through the official website, will be live for a limited period, and all eligible candidates are encouraged to register and submit their choices promptly.

Key Dates to Remember:

  • Online Registration: August 27, 2025, to August 29, 2025 (till 11:55 PM)
  • Online Choice Filling: August 30, 2025, to September 1, 2025 (till 10:00 PM)
  • Online Choice Locking: September 1, 2025 (from 5:00 PM to 11:59 PM)
  • Seat Allotment Result: September 5, 2025
  • Reporting to Allotted Institutions: September 9, 2025, to September 10, 2025

Eligibility and Application Process:

Aspirants who had not registered in the first round must complete a new online registration on the official DME website. Those who have already registered and participated in Round 1 do not need to re-register; they can directly proceed to the online choice-filling process to secure a fresh allotment or a change of college. The choice-locking feature, which will be activated on September 1, will automatically lock choices if a candidate fails to do so manually, ensuring no application is left incomplete.

The detailed seat matrix for the second round is expected to be released shortly. Aspirants should keep a close watch on the DME Assam website to make informed decisions during the choice-filling phase. This round is vital for securing a seat, so candidates must ensure they have all their documents ready for the reporting process.

This ongoing counselling process is a significant step towards a rewarding career in medicine and dentistry. For regular updates on medical entrance exams and college admissions, follow Only Education News.
