Assam NEET 2025 Counselling: Provisional Merit List Out, Category Correction Window Open Till July 11

A significant development in the Assam NEET 2025 Counselling process has occurred for MBBS and BDS aspirants in the state. The Directorate of Medical Education (DME Assam) officially released the provisional merit list for NEET UG 2025 qualified candidates two days ago, on July 7, 2025. This crucial list includes the names of 19,809 candidates, marking a pivotal step towards admissions into medical and dental colleges across Assam for the upcoming academic session.

The release of the provisional merit list allows medical aspirants to ascertain their state rank and estimated position for counselling. This preliminary list is compiled based on the data submitted by candidates during their online application and their performance in the NEET UG 2025 examination. It is essential for every candidate who applied for Assam NEET counselling to meticulously check their details on this list to ensure accuracy.

How to Access the Provisional Merit List:

Candidates can easily access the provisional merit list by visiting the official website of DME Assam. The steps are as follows:

• Visit the official website: Go to dme.assam.gov.in.
• Navigate to Admission Notices: Look for and click on the 'Admission Notice – UG/PG/Others' section.
• Find the Merit List Link: Within this section, locate and click on 'Educational Notice – Provisional Assam State Merit List – NEET UG 2025'.
• Check Details: Candidates can then search for their name or NEET 2025 Roll Number to verify their merit status, category, and other pertinent details. It is paramount to cross-verify all information to avoid discrepancies in later stages of the counselling.

Important Window for Category Correction:

Recognizing that errors or changes might occur, DME Assam has also provided a limited window for candidates to rectify their category information. Aspirants who wish to change their category, or believe there is an error in their listed category, must submit a duly filled form along with the requisite supporting documents in person. This must be done at the DME Assam office, located on the Second Floor, Room Number 5, during official working hours.

Deadline for Category Change: The last date for submitting these category change requests in person is July 11, 2025.

Mode of Submission: It is crucial to note that applications sent via Post or E-mail will not be accepted. Candidates must appear physically at the office to submit their requests.

This in-person submission ensures that claims are verified immediately and accurately. Failure to submit corrections by the deadline could result in candidates being considered under their initially declared category, potentially impacting their seat allotment chances.

Anticipating the Next Steps in Counselling:

Upon incorporating all valid claims and corrections received by the July 11 deadline, the Final Merit List for Assam NEET 2025 will be published "in due course of time" on the official website. This final list will serve as the definitive ranking for the subsequent counselling rounds.

While the provisional merit list has been released, the complete schedule for the counselling process, including specific dates for document verification, online choice filling, and seat allotment for MBBS/BDS courses, is yet to be announced. DME Assam has indicated that these dates will be finalized and released soon, in alignment with the broader NEET 2025 counselling schedule that is expected from the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for the All India Quota.

Medical aspirants are strongly advised to remain in constant touch with the official DME Assam website for these forthcoming updates. Preparing all original documents required for verification beforehand, such as NEET UG 2025 Admit Card and Scorecard, Class 10th and 12th mark sheets, domicile certificate, category certificates, and identity proofs, will streamline the admission process. The release of the provisional merit list marks a significant milestone, urging candidates to stay proactive and well-informed as they navigate their path to Higher Education in medicine and dentistry in Assam.
