Allahabad University PGAT 2026 Registration Begins for PG Admissions

The University of Allahabad has released the notification for the Postgraduate Admission Test (PGAT) 2026-27 for admission into various postgraduate programs. The online application process started on 5th May 2026 and will remain open until 25th May 2026 through the official website aupravesh2026.cbtexam.in. Candidates interested in applying for both conventional and non-conventional postgraduate courses must submit their applications within the given timeframe. 

The University of Allahabad offers more than 32 postgraduate courses across different fields through PGAT-I and PGAT-II. PGAT-I is the test for conventional postgraduate courses and can be taken either online or offline, allowing candidates to choose the mode that suits them best. PGAT-II is held only online and is for non-conventional postgraduate programs. Candidates are advised to review the information bulletin to determine which test category their course falls under and select the appropriate subject code. 

Allahabad University PG Admission 2026 Important Dates

The application fee for PGAT 2026 varies depending on the course category and the candidate's reservation status. For the PGAT-I course, candidates from Unreserved, EWS, and OBC categories need to pay Rs. 1,000, whereas SC, ST, and PwD candidates pay Rs. 500. For the PGAT-II course, the application fee is Rs. 1,600 for Unreserved, EWS, and OBC candidates, while SC, ST, and PwD candidates pay Rs. 800.

Candidates must pay the fee during online registration to finalize their application. It is also recommended that candidates check the eligibility criteria for the postgraduate program they are applying for in the PGAT 2026 information bulletin available on allduniv.ac.in. The University of Allahabad follows the reservation policy set by the Government of India for admissions.

As per the Government of India's admission rules, 15% of seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes, 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes, and 27% for Other Backward Classes. In addition, 10% of seats are reserved for economically weaker sections, 5% for persons with benchmark disabilities, and 2% for sports quota candidates in every course. 

 Allahabad University Post-Graduate Admission Test 2026 Pattern

Allahabad University's Post-Graduate Admission Test 2026 will have a total of 300 marks, consisting of 150 multiple-choice questions. Candidates are expected to finish the paper within the given time. Out of these, 50 questions will cover topics like general knowledge, English language, Hindi language, logical reasoning, and mental ability.

 These 50 questions are compulsory for all candidates, except those applying for LL.M., B.Ed., M.Ed., and MBA/MBA-RD programs. The rest of the questions will be based on the specific postgraduate course the candidate is applying for. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers. 

How can someone apply for postgraduate admissions at Allahabad University for 2026?

Candidates should go to the website aupravesh2026.cbtexam.in to fill out the application form for PGAT 2026-27. They need to select the correct link based on the type of program they are interested in, which could be either PGAT-I or PGAT-II. When filling out the form, they must give all the required details like personal information, academic qualifications, program preference, and subject code choices. After filling the form, they have to pay the registration fee and submit it by 25 May 2026. 

It is important to choose subject codes carefully, as no changes will be allowed once the application is submitted. Candidates who are part of the sports quota must take a fitness test that includes a 50 m sprint, 1000 m run, overhead ball throw, and broad jump from a standing position. International students should apply through the International Student Advisor, University of Allahabad, and do not need to take the PGAT 2026 exam. Additionally, applicants for the MBA and MBA-RD programs are also required to take departmental tests.

Once the registration process is complete, candidates will be able to download their admit cards from the official website in June 2026. The PGAT 2026 exam is expected to be held on June 14, 2026, and it may be conducted online or offline, depending on the course type selected.
