NLU Delhi proceeds with AILET 2026 first provisional selection confirmation. Selected candidates must pay the fee by Jan 14. Check BA LLB and LLM cutoffs here.

Following the release of the first merit list on January 8, the National Law University (NLU) Delhi is currently witnessing a steady flow of admission confirmations for AILET 2026. As of today, the university’s online portal remains active for provisionally selected students to secure their seats. This period marks a pivotal stage in the selection cycle, as the university transitions from the examination phase to the finalization of its incoming batch for the academic year 2026-27.

Mandatory Steps for Seat Confirmation

Candidates whose names appeared in the first list for the BA LLB (Hons.) and LLM programs must complete specific registration formalities to avoid forfeiture. The process is entirely digital, requiring students to engage with their individual dashboard on the official NLU Delhi website.

  • Payment of Confirmation Fee: To validate their allotment, candidates are required to deposit a provisional admission confirmation fee of Rs. 50,000. This amount is adjusted against the total university fee later in the semester.
  • Documentation Upload: The registration process also involves uploading signed copies of the provisional admission offer letter. Candidates must ensure that every page of the letter is self-attested and submitted in PDF format before the portal closes.
  • Final Deadline: The window for these actions will strictly close at 11:00 AM on January 14, 2026. Any selection that remains unconfirmed by this deadline will be cancelled, and the vacancy will be carried forward to the second merit list.

Round 1 Admission and Cutoff Trends

The initial allotment has revealed a highly competitive landscape for AILET 2026. With NLU Delhi remaining one of the most sought-after legal institutions, the cutoff ranks for the General category have remained within a very narrow range, mirroring the trends seen in previous years.

Data suggests that the majority of students in the top 50 ranks have already completed their registration, indicating a high retention rate for the first list. This high acceptance rate typically leads to fewer vacancies in the subsequent rounds for General category students.

Conclusion

As the university moves closer to the January 14 cutoff, the focus remains on the seamless completion of the selection formalities. Candidates who successfully navigate this stage will be issued a final provisional admission letter, marking the end of their entrance journey. For those who did not make it into the first list, the university has scheduled the declaration of the second provisional allotment list for January 21, 2026. This second list will depend entirely on the number of vacancies created by candidates who opt not to confirm their initial selection during the current window.
