Admission for the 2026-27 academic year has started at the Army Institute of Law (AIL) in Mohali. Eligibility Conditions for AIL BA LLB 2026

The candidate must have passed the Class 12th or equivalent exam from a recognized board. The minimum percentage required in the qualifying exam is 45%. For SC/ST students, the minimum is 40%. The candidate must be an Indian citizen or an OCI holder. For the general category, the age limit to join the course is 20 years as of July 1, 2026. Candidates who have applied for their Class 12th final examination are also eligible to apply on a provisional basis.

The candidates must have completed a Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from a recognized educational institutionApplicants should have obtainedminimum aggregate score of 50% in their LLB program. For SC/ST candidates, the minimum percentage required is 45%. It is necessary that the candidates are Indian citizens or OCI cardholders to apply for the coursePreference may be given to candidates who have work experience in the legal fieldStudents who are currently in their final year of LLB studies are also eligible to apply. 

How to Apply for AIL Mohali Admission?

To apply for admission at the Army Institute of Law, Mohali, candidates should visit the official website of the institute, ail.ac.in, where the online application process is availableApplicants need to fill out the application form with all necessary detailsincluding personal informationacademic qualificationscontact numbers, and the desired course.

Selection Procedure for UG Courses

The selection for BA, LLB, and B.Com. LLB courses will be based on the candidate’s merit score in the Class 12 examinationShortlisting will be done by looking at the total marks the candidate scored in the 10+2 examinationStudents who are shortlisted will then be invited for a counseling and document verification process.

The selection for the course will be made from the merit list and the preferences mentioned by the candidatesCandidates who are selected must report at the institute within the specified time to complete their admission process.

Selection Procedure for Postgraduate Courses

The selection for the LLM course will be based on the candidate’s merit score in their bachelor's degree in law. Shortlisted candidates will be called based on their total marks in the LLB degree program.

These candidates will then be invited for counseling and document verification procedures. The final selection will be made based on the merit list and the candidate’s preferencesCandidates who are selected should report at the institute within the given period to finalize their admission. 

Documents Needed

Candidates need to bring their original copies of documents along with photocopies to the counseling center. These documents will include the mark sheet and certificate of Class 12 for undergraduate courses in law. For LLM admissioncandidates must also carry their LLB degree certificates and mark sheets.

They should also producecategory certificate if applicable, along with a photo identity proof. The confirmation of the application form must also be brought along. Any issue with the submitted documents may lead to the loss of admission chances.
