By February 2, 2026, the Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test (INI CET) for the January session has transitioned into its final administrative phase. Following the rigorous second round of counselling and subsequent physical reporting, the Official AIIMS Exams Portal is being updated with the status of joined candidates. The central examination section in New Delhi is currently consolidating the Admission data from all 19 AIIMS branches and other premier institutes like JIPMER and NIMHANS to prepare the final Lists for the academic year.

Transition to Open Round Counselling

With the primary counselling rounds concluded, a significant number of specialized seats remain available. The AIIMS authorities are moving toward the Open Round to ensure that no vital clinical or non-clinical Admission opportunity goes waste.

• Open Round Registration: The window for fresh registrations and choice exercising closed on January 30, 2026.
• Vacancy Status: A total of 498 seats are being processed for the final Lists, including 438 in MD/MS and 60 for Foreign National/Sponsored categories.
• Allotment Announcement: The final results for this open phase are scheduled for release on February 20, 2026.
• Reporting Window: Successful candidates must report to their respective institutes between February 21 and February 28, 2026.
• Verification: The "joined candidate" data is currently being audited to prevent duplicate allotments across different state and national quotas.

Seat Occupancy and Vacancy Overview

The 2026 January session has seen a high occupancy rate in clinical branches, but the non-clinical and super-specialty segments still offer opportunities for those on the waiting Lists. AIIMS New Delhi remains the most sought-after destination, influencing the overall Admission trends.

• Reserved category seat verification is currently ongoing to ensure compliance with the latest 2026 roster points.
• Institutes such as AIIMS Rishikesh and AIIMS Bhopal are finalizing their internal merit Lists based on the Round 2 "non-joined" data.
• Candidates who did not join after Round 2 have had their security deposits forfeited as per the 2026 information brochure.
• The "willingness to upgrade" status is being cross-referenced with the remaining seat matrix for the final Admission push.

Mandatory Requirements for Final Enrollment

As the institutes finalize the enrollment Lists, aspirants must ensure their digital and physical profiles are in perfect order. Any discrepancy in the documentation can lead to the immediate cancellation of the Admission offer.

• Seat Allotment Letter: Downloaded from the  AIIMS PG Portal after the result declaration.
• Internship Completion: Mandatory certificate proving completion of the 12-month rotatory internship by December 31, 2025.
• Registration Certificate: Permanent or provisional registration from the NMC or State Medical Council.
• Category Validity: SC/ST/OBC/EWS certificates must be within the valid issuance window specified in the January 2026 prospectus.
