The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Sikkim has announced the fee structure for undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes for the academic session 2026-27. Students who are planning to take admission can now understand the total cost of studying at the institute and prepare their finances in advance.
The fee structure includes tuition fees, institute charges, laboratory fees, and other academic expenses that students need to pay during each semester. Hostel and mess charges are separate and optional, depending on whether students choose campus accommodation.
ACADEMIC FEE STRUCTURE
According to the official details, the total academic fee for the B.Tech programme is around INR 5.86 lakh for the complete four-year course consisting of eight semesters. For M.Tech and M.Sc programmes, the total fee ranges between INR 76,309 and INR 1.84 lakh for the full two-year duration. Ph.D students will have to pay approximately INR 1.13 lakh to INR 1.2 lakh depending on their category and course requirements.
FEE CONCESSION
NIT Sikkim has also provided several fee concessions for reserved category and economically weaker students. SC, ST, and PwD students are eligible for a full tuition fee waiver. Students from families with an annual income below INR 1 lakh can also get 100 percent tuition fee remission. Those whose family income is between INR 1 lakh and INR 5 lakh can receive two-thirds tuition fee remission.
Students opting for hostel facilities will need to pay INR 7,500 per semester as hostel fees. Mess charges are INR 21,000 per semester and depend on usage. Students who wish to use the university bus service will have to pay INR 1,920 per semester separately.
ONE-TIME CHARGES
Apart from semester fees, students will also need to pay some one-time charges during admission. These include admission fees, ID card fees, alumni fees, student welfare fund charges, and convocation fees. Refundable caution deposits for hostel, institute, and mess facilities will also be collected at the time of admission.
FEE FOR M.Tech and M.Sc PROGRAM
For M.Tech and M.Sc programmes, general category students will pay INR 35,000 as tuition fees per semester, while SC/ST students are exempted from paying tuition fees. The total semester fee for general category students is around INR 44,045, while SC/ST students need to pay approximately INR 9,045, excluding hostel and mess charges.
For Ph.D students, the semester fee is around INR 17,519 for general category students and INR 10,019 for SC/ST students. A one-time thesis evaluation fee of INR 10,000 will also be charged separately.
