The Master of Business Administration is a postgraduate degree providing an individual with the required skills and knowledge in the management of businesses, understanding markets, and becoming a leader in all fields. It is one of the most pursued qualifications in the corporate world. The need and relevance of the MBA have increased over the years with meeting growing needs of industries; therefore it continues to play a key role in today's dynamic business environment. This course is divided in such a way that students would familiarise all about the business, such as finance, marketing, human resources, operations, and strategy. Generally, the syllabus of this course is heavily loaded with subjects such as accounting, economics, business law, organisational behaviour, entrepreneurship, and business ethics, among many others.

In India, the admission process in MBA normally involves an entrance test. Some of the commonly followed entrance tests are CAT (Common Admission Test), XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test), and MAT (Management Aptitude Test), and many more. A good number of business schools in India accept entrance tests as a mode of evaluating candidates. After clearing the entrance test, students are passed on to the selection process that primarily involves group discussions and personal interviews.

The duration of an MBA in India is normally two years. However, there are some institutions offering executive MBA programmes for working professionals where the duration of completion is within one year. They can specialise in any type of business field from finance to marketing or human resources based on one's interest and professional career goals.
