Question 1

1. What is the mandatory attendance requirement?

Accepted Answer

In line with University Ordinance and Bar Council of India (BCI) norms, students must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance in each subject. The college uses a "Continuous Assessment" model where attendance also contributes to internal marks (especially for the LL.M. course, where it forms part of the 40% internal evaluation). Failure to meet this requirement can lead to being debarred from the semester-end examinations.

Question 2

2. Does the college provide hostel facilities for outstation students?

Accepted Answer

Yes. SS Maniyar Law College offers separate hostel accommodations for both boys and girls. Girls' Hostel: Located within the main KCE Society campus, with annual fees ranging from ₹14,000 to ₹22,000. Boys' Hostel: Limited seats are available with a fee of approximately ₹9,800 per year. Concessions: Needy and economically backward students can apply for concessions in hostel fees, and some free accommodation is provided based on merit and financial need.

Question 3

3. What are the passing criteria for LL.B. and B.A. LL.B.?

Accepted Answer

The college follows the evaluation pattern set by KBC North Maharashtra University (KBCNMU): Theory Papers: Students must score a minimum of 45% in theory exams. Internal Evaluation: For courses like LL.M., a 60:40 pattern is followed (60 marks external, 40 marks internal). Internal marks are based on tests, seminars, and home assignments. Aggregate: To be eligible for the degree, students must pass all individual subjects and the practical/clinical legal education papers.

Question 4

4. What are the library facilities and timings?

Accepted Answer

The library is a major asset with over 25,500 books and automated through ERP solutions. Timings: Usually open during college hours (10:00 AM to 5:00 PM), with extended hours during exams. Digital Access: The library provides high-speed scanning, barcode systems, and 10 dedicated computer terminals for accessing e-journals like Manupatra and N-List. Borrowing: Students can use the "Book Bank" facility to borrow textbooks for the entire semester.

Question 5

5. Is there a dress code for daily classes?

Accepted Answer

While there is no specific daily uniform for routine lectures, a strict professional dress code is mandatory for formal events: Formal Days: Students must wear the "Advocate's Attire" (White shirt, black trousers, and a black tie/blazer) during Moot Court competitions, university practical exams, and official court visits. General Days: Students are expected to maintain "sober and decent" attire suitable for a professional law institution.

Question 6

6. How do I apply for a fee refund if I cancel my admission?

Accepted Answer

Refunds are processed according to the Maharashtra State CET Cell and University guidelines. If a student cancels before the cut-off date of the admission round, a significant portion of the fee is refunded after a small administrative deduction. Refunds for library deposits and other refundable components are processed at the end of the course or upon submission of a "No Dues" certificate.
