Question 1

Can I get admission in NIT Silchar with 95 percentile in JEE Main?

Accepted Answer

With a 95 percentile, you stand a good chance of getting into NIT Silchar for streams like Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering. But for tough streams like Computer Science (CSE) or Electronics and Communication (ECE), you might need a higher percentile, especially in the general category.

Question 2

What are some disadvantages of joining NIT Silchar?

Accepted Answer

One of the main disadvantages of NIT Silchar is the remoteness of the location, which affects accessibility and further industry exposure. Though infrastructure is adequate, the comparison with older NITs shows that they still deserve to do better. A lesser degree of industry connection means lesser availabilities for internships and placements. From the viewpoint of many, the climate is excessively humid and rainy. Therefore, adapting might become a challenge for students from other parts of India.

Question 3

Is NIT Silchar considered a tier 1 college?

Accepted Answer

NIT Silchar does not fall under Tier 1. It is a good place with decent education and decent chances, but the top NITs are just in a class by themselves; maybe Tier 2 or 2.5 would be more appropriate for this one.

Question 4

What should I know before joining NIT Silchar?

Accepted Answer

Life for a student at NIT Silchar comes with its struggles. The academic setup is competitive, and maintaining a good CGPA requires hard work. Many students realize that in college, past academic excellence counts for nothing; you've got to prove yourself once more. Be prepared for all-nighters before exams or going through the grind during projects!
