ESIC Medical College, Hyderabad (established 2012) is a newer institution with modern infrastructure and affordable fees, particularly for ESIC scheme employees and their families, offering good clinical exposure through ESIC Hospital, though with comparatively fewer resources than older institutions. Mysore Medical College (established 1924) is one of Karnataka's oldest and most reputed colleges, known for excellent infrastructure, strong faculty, and extensive clinical exposure at Mysore General Hospital. The right choice depends on whether a candidate prefers a newer, more affordable option (ESIC) or a well-established institution with a strong legacy (MMCRI).

Question 11

Ques: Does Mysore Medical College and Research Institute provide good placement facilities?

Accepted Answer

MMCRI does not run a formal campus placement drive for MBBS graduates in the traditional corporate sense, as medical education leads students toward internships, licensing, and further specialisation rather than direct hiring. That said, the institute offers strong career pathways: every MBBS graduate completes a mandatory one-year rotating internship at its attached teaching hospitals — including the 1,200-bed KR Hospital, Cheluvamba Hospital (Obstetrics, Gynaecology & Paediatrics), and PKTB Hospital (Chest Diseases & TB) — with a government-prescribed stipend typically ranging between ₹20,000 and ₹30,000 per month. Post-internship, graduates commonly move into government hospital service, primary health centres, private practice, or pursue postgraduate specialisation through NEET PG/SS, with PG graduates often securing salaries in the range of ₹12–15 LPA depending on specialisation and workplace. MMCRI's century-long legacy, extensive clinical exposure, and strong faculty base continue to make it a reputed launchpad for both government and private-sector medical careers in Karnataka.
