How to Read Opening and Closing Ranks?
The opening rank refers to the JEE Main rank of the first student who got a seat in that college, course, category, and round. The closing rank is the rank of the last student who received a seat in the same group. If your rank is between the opening and closing rank for a particular college and course, you had a good chance of getting the seat in Round 1. These ranks can also help plan your choices for the next rounds.
Freeze or Float; Which Option Should You Pick?
Allotted students must choose between Freeze or Float along with paying the seat acceptance fee.
Both options affect your participation in future rounds.
- Freeze means you accept the seat as your final choice. You stop participating in further rounds and must report to the college as scheduled.
- Float means you accept the seat as a backup option. You can also take part in the next round to see if you can get a better seat.
Students unsure about an upgrade should choose Float. Those who are happy with the offered seat should go for Freeze to save time and effort.
