If you've been anxiously refreshing tn-mbamca.com all morning, you're not alone. The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Tamil Nadu, is set to release the TANCET 2026 rank list today, July 15, and this is the moment that officially kicks off the counselling journey for MBA and MCA aspirants across the state.
The rank list isn't just a formality, it's the document that decides who moves forward into choice filling and, eventually, who gets a seat where. So for the thousands of candidates who appeared for TANCET this year, today's release genuinely matters.
What Leads Up to This
Registration for TN MBA MCA counselling closed on June 30 at Government College of Technology (GCT), Coimbatore. Every candidate who registered and successfully completed certificate verification will find their name on the rank list. DTE prepares this list purely based on actual TANCET exam marks, so it's a fairly transparent, marks-driven process.

Found an Error? Here's What to Do
Mistakes happen, and DTE has built in a window to fix them. If you spot a discrepancy in your details on the rank list, you'll need to report it through the grievance portal. This window stays open from July 16 to July 20, 2026, so don't sit on it if something looks off.
What Happens After the Rank List
Getting your name on the list is the first hurdle, but it also makes you eligible for choice filling, the stage where you actually pick your preferred colleges. Here's the schedule for that:
| Course | Choice Filling Dates |
|---|---|
| MCA | July 25 to July 27, 2026 |
| MBA | July 30 to August 2, 2026 |
A Few Things Worth Knowing
- Rank vs Percentile: Your percentile tells you how many candidates you outperformed, but it's your actual rank that determines seat allotment in Tamil Nadu colleges
- Tie-breakers: If two candidates land the exact same score, DTE uses a pre-assigned random number, followed by graduation marks and age, to decide who ranks higher
- Reservation: Seats follow Tamil Nadu's government reservation policy, split across Open Competition, BC, MBC, Denotified Communities, SC, and ST categories
- Special categories: Separate counselling rounds run beforehand for differently-abled candidates, sportspersons, and children of ex-servicemen
Documents to Keep Ready
Once your rank is out, start gathering these for the stages ahead:
- TANCET 2026 hall ticket and scorecard
- Graduation mark sheets
- Community certificate (if applicable)
- School leaving certificate
Registration Fee for Choice Locking
| Category | Fee |
|---|---|
| General | Rs 500 |
| SC, SCA, ST (Tamil Nadu candidates) | Rs 250 |
