Following the release of the Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP) results earlier this month, the admission cycle for Symbiosis International University (SIU) has entered its most critical phase. As of today, January 31, several constituent institutes have begun issuing shortlists for the second stage of the selection process. Thousands of aspirants are now actively monitoring the official portals of their preferred Symbiosis colleges to check their eligibility for the upcoming personality assessment rounds.

Institutional Shortlists and Percentile Cutoffs

The shortlisting process for the 2026-28 academic session is decentralized, meaning each of the 17 institutes under the SIU umbrella releases its own specific criteria. While the SNAP scorecard provides an overall percentile, flagship colleges like SIBM Pune and SCMHRD maintain the highest benchmarks in the country.

  • Flagship Cutoffs: SIBM Pune is expected to call candidates with a 98.5 percentile or higher, while SCMHRD typically hovers around the 97–98 percentile mark.
  • Tier-2 Colleges: Popular choices such as SIIB Pune and SIBM Bangalore have historically set their thresholds between 90 and 93 percentile.
  • Specialized Programs: Niche institutes like SIOM Nashik (Operations) and SCIT (Information Technology) often issue calls in the 75–87 percentile range.
  • Status Tracking: Candidates must log in to the individual websites of the Symbiosis colleges they applied to, as a common shortlist is not issued by the university.

The GE-PI Selection Framework

For those who successfully clear the initial cutoff, the focus now shifts to the Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interaction (PI) rounds. Notably, several institutes have streamlined their evaluation process for the 2026 cycle. Participation in all components is mandatory; missing any single round results in immediate disqualification from the SIU admission process.

  • GE Dynamics: Small groups of 7–8 candidates are given a task or topic to assess teamwork and communication.
  • PI Focus: The panel evaluates candidates on their goals, personality, and suitability for a management career.
  • Slot Booking: Shortlisted candidates must book their preferred date and time for these rounds through the respective institute's login portal.

Final Merit List and Admissions

As the call rounds continue through early February, candidates are advised to keep their academic and professional documents ready for verification. The final merit list will be a composite score, blending the SNAP performance with the marks earned during the GE-PI phase.

  • Document Readiness: Original transcripts, category certificates (if applicable), and work experience letters are required during the interaction.
  • Waitlist Movement: Historically, Symbiosis institutes see significant waitlist movement after the first list is announced in March.
  • Academic Session: Selected candidates for the 2026-28 batch are expected to begin their classes in July 2026.

Conclusion

The transition from competitive testing to personality-based evaluation marks a significant shift for SNAP 2025 aspirants. With the shortlisting phase currently in full swing, candidates are moving closer to securing their seats in some of India's premier B-schools. The next few weeks of GE-PI rounds will ultimately determine the final composition of the SIU management classes for the upcoming decade.
